rhpatrick22First like Firefox, and Camino, this bowser is "rock solid secure" does not crash, and hs built in "handicapped features" not found in the "big guys" Deleting "old preferences" will cure your fears. Second, it has a built in mail client, and alerts are given me,when I receive a message or a blocked pop up. This holds true for sent messages as well.
This is the only browser with a "bit torrent client; what about the big guys?
Also it is not a memory hog; I have ussd this browser in my classic time, and spent $40 dollars; it is now free.
Those of you complaining about it's looks, download a skin to make it look like the browser of your choice, Netscape, IE, Camino, Safari; look for yourself don't post something which I have found correct. Yes all reviews seem to be based on prefeence; would it not be wise to be objective?
Lastly, rather than store the paasswords in the keychain, it has a Wand Manager for passwords. I cant find an issue with a browser remembering passwords in it's own database for security purposes.
Please change the user agent for sites I am reading that Opra will not display; it has no problem in recognizing a bank site I vist, but Safari does have a peoblem.

Opera 9.5 and weak wifi networks - Version: 9.5.2, 8/20/2008 08:41AM PST
(3 of 3 users found this comment useful)
ericg51This situation has provided me with a great opportunity to investigate whether browsers differ in their ability to open pages in a weak wifi network. Consistently Opera 9.5 has way outperformed all of its Mac rivals including Safari 3.1, Firefox 3, Omniweb, iCab, and Camino. Under all but the most minimal wifi conditions Opera will open pages that none of the other browsers can and even when they are able to open pages, such as igoogle, Opera will open them faster.
Having said this, Opera has limitations. It is, alas, consistently less successful than any of the other browsers to open some very common web pages as accurately as ANY of the other browsers. Often Opera fails to open igoogle pages properly - leaving out items and often requiring a refresh command. Were Opera to correct this problem and have the capacity to open igoogle and gmail as well as any of the other browsers in the Mac world, it could claim to be the best Mac browser.

Installing Opera 9.5 breaks Adobe Bridge CS3 - Version: 9.5, 6/24/2008 03:07AM PST
magellan59
The above mentioned favorites all having browser capabilities in common and me knowing that I just upgraded Opera to 9.5, I started digging around and found Opera inside Bridge, and it is version 9.2. If you want to check, then in Finder right-click on Bridge CS3 application, click on Show Package Contents, open Contents/MacOS folder and Opera app is there).
To get around this, either
(1) uninstall Opera 9.5 (or downgrade it to 9.2) and wait for Bridge update with Opera 9.5 inside
or
(2) Leave Opera 9.5 application on your computer but remove ~/Library/Application Support/Opera folder. (You may want to remove ~/LIbrary/Preferences/Opera and ~/Library/Caches/Opera folders as well, but that is not necessary.) Beware though that if you run Opera next time, it will do the "first run" and recreate this folder again.

Error! Could not locate remote server ? - Version: 9.5, 6/22/2008 05:17PM PST

I get the followig message:
"Error! Could not locate remote server
You tried to access the address http://help.opera.com/help/index.html, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.
Make sure your Internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working."
I have AOL, Firefox, Camino, Seamonkey, Safari and even Netscape all open and working.
I have tried a boat load of URL's and nothing. It won't connect.
I have not had this problem with any of the precious version. I have deleted and installed several time and performed maintenance with unsuccessful results.
