Apple's "Mail" may be much maligned, but it does this just fine!
Nice...but.... - Version: 3.1, 9/12/2004 12:04AM PST

It's definitely a nice little app...but the thing is, for people that rarely reboot or re-open their email program, you're pretty much stuck with the same sig. as you would normally be. Would be nice if this application could give you a random sig. everytime you composed a new email rather than everything you reboot or re-open your email client.
Chokes on large quote files... - Version: 3.0, 7/5/2004 06:08PM PST

I've been waiting for a decent signature randomizer since I moved to OS X a couple of years ago and although this app seems to work fine with small numbers of quotes, it apparently can't handle my large quote file of about 1800 entries - it just opens and quits without doing anything.
Another major flaw in this app is that it apparently can only replace the entire text of the signature file, not just a section *inside* the file as my old OS 9 app did. For example, my sig file might look something like this:
--------
John Doe
President, Acme Widgets
"If the terriers and beriffs are torn down,
this economy will grow."
George W. Bush
With your program (unless I'm missing something), you would have to have that top part included in each and ever quote in order for it to appear in the signature. Other randomizers that I've used let you create a "shell" file that contains whatever text you want to always appear in the signature with a designated area for the randomly chosen quote to appear.
