When minimized, you always have it on hand. By using its 12 useful and customizable keys and it's handy tax and percentage features your daily calculations are simpliflied.

What's new in this version:

  • We advise to update TopCalculette Pro to version 4.6 build 428. This version fix a possible error on the following currencies rates for the users of the previous version 4.6 :
  • Currencies prior to the Euro (FRF, DEM, ATS, BEF, ESP, FIM, ITL, IEP, LUF, NLG, PTE and GRD).
  • XPF, XAF and KMF.
  • Due to a problem on RubenSoft currencies server, the AED (Arabic Emirate Dirham) rate was incorrect. Now, this bug has been fixed.
  • Currency and flag of Dominican Republic (DOP) have been added.
  • The default currency rates have been updated on 1/20/2004.
  • The conversion units of fuel consumption (miles / gallon and gallons / mile) have been corrected: UK and US gallon were inverted.
  • You can again map Mac Keyboard Keys to the 12 TopCalculette Function Keys.
  • You can enter again numbers lower than 0.01 (that was not possible in version 4.6!)
  • In "Money" mode, although they were not very useful, the 1/x and radix keys work now.

I've desperately waited for a revision, emailed the author a dozen times, never received any kind of reply. It looks as if he got struck by lightning.

TC doesn't work at all under Snow Leopard, it just doesn't start. I guess I'm finally switching to PCalc, which looks to deliver to best user experience now.

TopCalculette Pro CommentaryWill we ever see native Intel-support? - Version: 7.0f3, 6/22/2008 03:32AM PST

This is my favorite calculator, but why, oh why doesn’t it still run natively on Intel Macs? According to the Finder’s Info box it is PPC only, which means it runs under Rosetta on Intel = SLOW!

On my MacBook it is often unresponsive with delays of up to a second, which means you sometimes can’t enter calculations as fast as you want. Or better said: you can enter them fast, but don’t get immediate feedback on the screen. Very annoying.
