RAGE WebDesign ReviewA great program - Version: 2.9.8.3, 8/20/2008 03:36PM PST

I've used WebDesign from the beginning. Now I can't get along without it. This last version doesn't solve any problems I've had,but thanks for continuing updates.

I've used Webdesign for about five years now. It's served it's purpose well, improving with each revision. It's still got a few annoying little bits (the occasional spelling error in the dialogue boxes for example) and a couple of other features but for the price, it's great value.

Earlier versions may have had speed issues however on my ibook G4 (1.33GHz) it's not a slouch. This new version has speeded up loading and responsiveness too.

As a complete package (ftp browser, site management app, the ability to write your own plug-ins etc), Webdesign continues to serve me well.

I'd reccomend this app...

It doesnt do quite everything I'd want but its probably the best all-rounder out there, i don't personally use the web-site manager or many of the more complex tools webdeisgn offers as i code only by hand and upload with an ftp package.

But for anyone wanting to learn html i'd reccomend this app - the tutorials are excellent, so if your starting out go take a look at the rage site as you don't need to buy the app to use them.

There are other editors out there (freeware included) that are worth a look at Taco is good but lacks support for xhtml and i find TextWrangler a little bit too complex for my needs - all in all considering the low price of WebDesign and the fantastic support they offer i think its well worth it.

Sorry folks, but for 30 bucks you get not enough. BTW: Look at freeware TextWrangler or Taco HTML Edit to see what's missing.

I have to say that I have been a user since version 2.3.1 and not only is this a great application but the support is exceptional. One of the best things is the plug-in architecture. I have created 6 plugs really easily. I am now working on my first web site that uses both CSS and XHTML and are completely standard compliant.

Oh and kaite, maybe you should take a closer like at the app before judging it so quickly, this is a source code editor so it produces exactly what you put into it. It only produces want it to. Did you even try it? Also what attracted me most about the software was the their web site which was fully standard compliant as you can see from the w3c images at the bottom of the page. I think that answers the question of whether they have heard of them

RAGE WebDesign Reviewunbelievably sluggish - Version: 2.5.1, 7/24/2004 09:16AM PST

i like the idea of a semi-graphical editor and don't care much for strictness of code (as long as the code works in the real world). but the app has massive speed problems on a quicksilver g4 (os x 10.2.8) - typing text is in slow motion and when trying to alter setings in its attributes editor window it simply doesn't react. sometimes fo minutes... virtually useless. it's a pity.

I agree with Mojolive, but the fact that realy makes this piece of soft useless is that it is unable to create standard-conform HTML. They aparently never ever heard about W3C.
Just check their Help-files and you know what I mean. Absolutely garbage!

It is a cheek to cheat people with "fine websites after some clicks"-slogans and offering an app that is unable to ceate clean code.
The rest of us who know about HTML don't need crap like this, an editor, maybe with code coloring or tag-inserting, is fine enough. But the beginners rely on those programs ... and became sent up.
