KidsGoGoGo X ReviewJust does not work for limiting Application run time - Version: 12.6, 10/12/2009 11:57AM PST

clinton--2008
I have been trying to use the Application timer functionality that KGGG has in it but without success
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, repaired permissions all according to the KGGG support site but nothing works. And when I say nothing I'm also including KGGG tech support.
Despite numerous post to the support department I have never received any response.
If anyone knows of another Application that can limit the run time for specific applications I'd love to know.
Peace,
c

KidsGoGoGo X CommentaryOr Use K9 Web Protection For Free - Version: 12.6, 9/6/2008 08:34AM PST

I've no idea why anyone would pay for this now that you can get Blue Coat Systems excellent K9 Web Protection ( http://www1.k9webprotection.com ) absolutely free.

I am not affiliated with Blue Coat Systems other than being a very happy user of their product.

KidsGoGoGo X Reviewnot intuitive, but it does work - Version: 12.5, 1/21/2008 12:00AM PST

i've used this on my kids ibooks and on our shared imac for over the past year. while i've had many difficulties setting it up and really had to read the documentation, i have to say that the program works as advertised and gives me peace of mind with my kids on the internet. the japanese to english translations can be extremely rough and the understanding of any email requests are sometimes quite limited (billing questions posed a serious issue, like they were translating using babelfish back and forth...) but they constantly update the program and are active which is worth something. again, i still use it and paid again for another year. and the documention is pretty complete - although finding what you are looking for can be a struggle.

KidsGoGoGo X CommentaryNo Intel support? - Version: 11.4, 12/13/2006 09:45AM PST

I had used KidsGoGoGo X version 8 successfully while in Mac OS X 10.3.9 on my G4 laptop. Loved it. Updating to Mac OS X 10.4.x whiped it out, and I didn't worry about it too much.

However, since then I've gotten a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.4.8 and I tried installing KidsGoGoGo X v11.4. It completely disabled all internet access. It looks like it's a PowerPC-only application. I couldn't even use the uninstaller to remove it. (I uninstalled by manually finding and removing everything -- very tedious.)

I recommend it for PowerPC-based Macs, but it looks like there's some work to do for Intel-based Macs.

KidsGoGoGo X ReviewBest parental control for the Mac - Version: 9.3, 8/5/2005 06:15AM PST

Since I have young children, I have tried virtually every parental control software for the Mac. That includes the built in controls in Tiger. This program is the best one by far. Apple would do well to buy this program and incorporate it into OS X. The program is well thought out and by logging into each account you can individualize the program to that user. When you are done, the adminstrator can disable other users from changing their settings. The major draw backs are 1) the manual is translated from Japanese to English and therefore it is hard to understand. 2) The program needs to show you what sites are being blocked. I still will give it 5 stars because it has worked very well in my house. Try and buy this program.

KidsGoGoGo X ReviewKids Go Go Go! is great! - Version: 8.9, 3/5/2005 12:27PM PST

Kids Go Go Go! blocks kids sites for their accounts; open internet for mine.

I see a lot of comments about the documentation. This program is made in Japan. They have apparently used a translator program to create the english User Guides. They are making a nice program available to us; I hope we do not fault them too much for doing so.

Here's how to make it work: Install and Launch Kids Go Go Go! Choose a Filtering option and your're done. Just Hide the App. Next Log In Kids Go Go Go! will work in the background. If you have a kids log in in addition to yours, turn Off Filtering in your account. Deselect Disallow user's changes to settings. Now, Fast User Switch to your kid's account. Launch Kids Go Go Go! Choose the filtering option. Kids Sites Only searches a database. Harmful Sites searches the site to determine if it should be blocked. Hide Kids Go Go Go! Switch back to your account and select Disallow user's changes to settings. Hide Kids Go Go Go! (You may have to click OK...I forget which is correct right now.) When you log out and back in Kids Go Go Go! will be functioning in the background.

Installed in Juvenile Delinquent type school. When carefully installed and configured to use word list filter and custumized website blocking (along with company provided db) teachers have been much more willing to allow students to use the web and report far less trouble.

KidsGoGoGo X ReviewWon't uninstall; no help at all from developer - Version: 8.6.3, 9/7/2004 06:39PM PST

I tried KidsGoGoGo a year or more ago, and it didn't meet my needs. Recently I thought I'd try it again, so I downloaded it. I got a message immediately that said my trial period had expired. Apparently the prior uninstall had not worked completely. So I decided to uninstall it again using the supplied uninstaller, and it just crashes every time. It's running in the background; it puts an unremovable message on my desktop. I contacted the developer about this, and got no response. On his website it says I need to be a registered user for him to pay attention to my message. I'm not paying for that!

KidsGoGoGo X Troubleshooting ReportNot working - Version: 8.6.3, 8/11/2004 06:27AM PST

Phoenix DownUnder
Current version will stop Safari BUT will not stop Shiira - the new Japaneese browser. Also won't stop login.passport.net - puts www in front when testing.
Also won't stop *.msn.com which is what we want to do. Also won't stop
*.*xxx*.com where explicit matching to xxx is required.
Also its effects appear to be bypassed when using the authoxy proxy server
although I must admit I cannot test that absolutely at this time.
We need to block hotmail, yahoo, aol and MSN messenger.

Some work to do here.
Cheers.

KidsGoGoGo X ReviewIt works - Version: 8.4, 6/1/2004 07:13AM PST

I too have been using this product for years. It works. Like most programs you MUST follow the installation instructions. No doubt about it, the documentation is challenging (and sometimes comical) due to translation problems. But I have found that once you install it you pretty much forget about it until the next update. I have always read the reviews here and wondered why so many people have so many problems with it. Over the years I have installed it on several different machines with many different OS versions (including OS 9) and never had a problem. Here's what it REALLY needs: A publishing house to buy the program, change the name, rewrite the documentation and promote it as the best software out there for protecting your kid(s) on the internet.
