Product Description:

FLAC2Mac is the simplest way to convert FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) to Mac-compatible audio formats like Apple Lossless or AAC that can be played in iTunes and transferred to an iPod or iPhone. FLAC files contain true CD-quality audio and when using the Apple Lossless format, FLAC2Mac continues to maintain the same quality as the original CD. FLAC2Mac is an initial alpha release and as such, may contain many bugs. Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions that you have.

FLAC2Mac ReviewGood & simple. - Version: 0.2, 10/18/2009 07:53AM PST

Thanks for the software. It works very well, simple to use. Clear All is implemented. Nice work.

I agree with some of the suggestions for future versions here, especially drag & drop.

One odd event, i cannot be absolutely certain it was caused by FLAC2Mac, but i will document it here incase others have seen it. My MacBook Pro osx v5 Leopard, totally froze for about a minute or more. Spinning wheel everywhere, as if something had completely grabbed the processor time. FLAC2Mac was running when the is happened. Just before i force quit with the power button the Finder returned. I checked FLAC2Mac and it had just finished a stack of 6 files, so it was a prime suspect.

Thanks for your continued work.

FLAC2Mac CommentaryFLAC can be played native in iTunes - Version: 0.2, 10/3/2009 11:12PM PST

You can play FLAC natively in iTunes with a tiny bit of work. See this article for instructions:
<http://tomyeah.com/flac-and-ogg-support-for-itunes-import-and-play/>

The only problem with FLAC natively in iTunes is that it doesn't support cover art or lyrics, so I often import FLAC and then use iTunes to convert it to Apple Loseless so that I can add cover art & lyrics.

This program FLAC2Mac may be a good "simple" alternative, but it's not too much trouble to drag & drop the FLAC files into "Set OggS" which takes about 2 seconds literally, and then drag & drop them into iTunes directly.

FLAC2Mac ReviewWorks on PowerBook PPC G4!!! - Version: 0.2, 10/3/2009 09:31AM PST

I've tried Flac2Mac on my PowerBook with PPC processor G4, 1,5 GHz, running Leopard 10.5.8, and it works very well, light, fast and accurate. Version Tracker, please, change note of limitation for Intel only. Many thanks to the developer!
