Product Description:
Are you looking for an easy way to call or send SMS messages to your contacts using your Google Voice number right from your fingertips? GV Connect is your answer:
- Call or send SMS messages to anyone from your computer's Address Book database or your Google Contacts (or by manually entering any other phone number) right from your Dashboard.
- Select which of your registered phone numbers should be called to initiate the call.
- See total number of unread messages in your Google Voice inbox.
- See your currently available balance for making international calls.
- Verify location and local time of the number you call to avoid waking up people in the middle of the night.
- Quick links to directly open your Google Voice inbox, billing history, and phone setup pages.
- En-/disable forwarding numbers and do-not-disturb status for your GV number.
- Growl notifications for new incoming SMS and voicemails (optional, requires Growl installation).
What's new in this version:
New features:
- You can now control-click on your GV number or any of your forwarding numbers on the settings view to copy the associated number onto the clipboard.
Improvements/bug fixes:
- Fix issue introduced in 1.8 which would result in some people not being able to log in.
- Reduce system load on systems without Growl installed.
- Changed advanced settings now take effect immediately the next time the Dashboard is shown.

This is just a great find that "helps" Google Voice users. I can send text messages to my family and friends, even to China. I can initiate calls that come to my cell. It has full address book just like the web version ( but I think it pulls from the local Address Book but not sure ). Every now and then it fails to connect to the google server but that is ok as I know its just a helper. Oh and it seems to be updated very frequently which is a good sign. Oh, and it uses GROWL notifications which is superfine. Yeah, I wrote "superfine". My hats off to the developer.
