Ultralingua Spanish-English Dictionary ReviewScam artists but older versions still work - Version: 4.3, 12/8/2008 02:26AM PST

The upgrade prices and the ridiculous prices for each module (now duplicated with Collins dictionaries as well) should alert anyone with any sense to stay away from this pack of wolves.

I see people who upgraded to version 5 have been shut out in Leopard and have to pay another $20 per dictionary.

If you are online, there are better versions for each language which you can bookmarklet in your browser for quick use - dict.leo.org for German - English for example. On the other hand, when you find yourself offline Ultralingua (or its equivalent) can be useful.

Good news - if you can live with non-Universal Binary, version 4 works just fine under Leopard and doesn't show any signs of breaking in future versions of the OS either. The interface I don't find particularly Windows-like, just very plain-jane. But it works. And that's all we need.

Screw Ultralingua. After seeing what they did to the people who upgraded to the most recent version, they will not be seeing any more of my money.

Talk about a good concept gone bad.

Ultralingua Spanish-English Dictionary CommentaryStill have a problem with the Apple Widget - Version: 7.0.2, 8/19/2008 08:24AM PST

The Apple Widget still has some "minor" problems after doing a clean install of the application.

The dropdown menu in the Apple Widget seems to have no influence.

e.g. I select "German to English" from the dropdown menu and type "schwierig".

The Apple Widget then indicates "No entries found".

Switching from "German to English" and vice versa in the "Ultralingua 7.0.2" application itself works as intended but not in the Apple Widget.

A bugfix for the Apple widget would be appreciated.

Ultralingua Spanish-English Dictionary CommentaryProblem with widget after purchase/upgrade to version 7.0.2 - Version: 7.0.2, 8/18/2008 05:56AM PST

Hello,

I have just purchased and upgrade from version 6 to version 7.

However, their Apple widget is still indicating that my version has expired. The selected dictionary in the application works, but not in the Apple Widget.

Hmmm ...

1. I have downloaded their latest release.
2. I have deleted and re-installed the widget.

= same result

Any ideas how I can solve the problem?

I really do prefer the interface of version 6. Changing the translation direction "From/To" was so much more convenient in version 6. I wonder why they changed their GUI into a simple dropdown menu.

graphically & sincerely,
