Apples Preview for 0$ - Version: 2.9.6, 8/1/2009 04:10AM PST

Use Apple´s Preview-Application. Save 19,95$ and be happy. :D

I had a 2.9 MG photo, and at highest quality, this program reduced the picture to 610K, which is a size suitable for emailing. And the program has a sliding scale, so the adjustments to resolution are infinite within a certain range. Its ease of use, intuitive interface and wide range of additional features - cropping, resizing, etc- makes it an excellent addition to anyone's digital photo toolset. I've also tested it, albeit not extensively, with Snow Leopard, and it seems to work well with the new OS.
While it is possible to accomplish many of the aforementioned tasks within Preview, iPhoto, and other "free" programs, it is not nearly so easy to perform these tasks as it is to do them within this single program. I also have Photoshop, and these tasks certainly can be accomplished within that program as well, but again, not nearly so easily, quickly and intuitively as within this program. A+ to the developers of such a marvelous utility.
