Hulu work up, this version has an Internet Plugin that is FINALLY a Universal Binary! Still not a 64-bit app, though.

Aside from comments about the plugin being PPC and the app not being 64 bit, the real issue here is that this software does NOT have a full screen mode which covers up my dock and menu items. So it leaves these showing and it is distracting. If I use Safari to view Hulu I can click on the box and get full screen. True the controls aren't as nice but for my iMac 27 the real deal is seeing the full screen.
This is more important to me, so PLEASE HULU add FULL SCREEN to the software!!

*I* recommend Hulu Desktop not just because "it's available for Mac" but because I don't have to launch my browser and navigate to hulu.com.
Let me elaborate based on VT's Rating system:
Overall: 5-Stars because...
Ease of Use: 5-Stars. This thing is relatively stupid-proof. The interface is easy to navigate. Searching is super simple which is why I gave
Support / Documentation: 5-Stars. Beyond the System Requirements there's not much you have to read up on unless your plan includes reverse engineering the software!
Quality / Stability: 5-Stars. In addition to the afore-mentioned it's never crashed and operates quite smoothly on my MacPro 2.66GHz Quad-Core (Early 2009) with OS X 10.6.2 - I tried it on my old MDD G4/1GHz/1GB RAM/Radeon 9800 Pro and it barely worked- it didn't crash, it stuttered along so I trashed it and went to hulu.com.
Price: 5-Stars. What the hell beats no money out of pocket? I can't agree with "Free" because I believe having to sit through advertising isn't "Free" but throughout a regularly half-hour popular show you're going to have to put up with 2 to 3 thirty-second or less commercials... not nearly as bad as what I might have to using the television. There are less annoyances the less popular the program.
OH YEAH- ...and it's not 64-bit! BIG FRIGGIN DEAL!

Oddly enough, the app is Universal, but the huludeskop.webplugin is PPC ONLY in .9.6. What kind of incompetent developers are they?

I tried it (also 0.9.1 version) and it runs on my 1.4 GHz Power PC G4 AGP tower / Mac OS 10.4.11. 640 RAM (yea I know I need more RAM, LOL). Same thing with video set @ High quality - stuttering. Lower the quality to Medium / Low, pause & let buffer get full then hit play - watchable & quality still looks good. The app pushes my processor between 20 - 70 %. Think it's more of a streaming issue maybe and I'm a fast DSL connection.
We have to remember that this is still a beta version.
*** Side note: My son is doing a download on his computer during this testing which affects my streaming ability. I'll try later when he's done.

I love this program. It is far superior to the standard program that requires that you use a browser such as Safari or Firefox. I truly like all the provisions that it offers including full screen at three different resolutions. When using either Low (480) or Medium (700) I can use it with my Verizon Aircard with no delays (full buffering).
One minor problem (I call it minor, others may not think so) that I did have with this version is if you have been using the program and exit completely out to do other things using other programs and don't reboot, but try to go back into Hulu, my system locks up. Screen will go black but nothing happens. Must do a "Force Quit" (Cmd, Opt, Esc) and ultimately do a restart/reboot before being able to go back and use Hulu Desktop.
I'm using Mac OS 10.5.8.
This program is well on it's way to becoming a WINNER and for those who habitually complain about products that are FREE--all I can say is go get a life! The developers of this program have got a good thing going and I look forward to your next release. In the meantime, I plan to continue to use this program (in spite of it's MINOR problem!
