BackupLoupe Troubleshooting ReportIsn't working for me - Version: 1.8.2, 11/5/2009 12:03AM PST

Jason!
I have a March 2009 iMac running 10.6.1. I turned on Time Machine and made a partial backup on my Time Capsule today. I then installed BackupLoupe (latest version) and it says "Could not find any backups." This remains true even though I have the Time Capsule drive mounted! I then went to the prefs in BackupLoupe and specified the direct path to my Time Capsule (where the *.sparsebundle is saved). Even then BackupLoupe cannot find it! I even tried unticking the "Use default TimeMachine locations, but to no avail.

What do I do to fix this?

Always wondered why Time Machine took so long ... ran BackupLoupe and discovered that the TechTools directory/disk backup file, which changes every time I use the machine is 1.5GB!! Locked it out of backup and now TimeMachine runs in just a few seconds!!

Would be nice if you could use it to remove unnecessary files from TimeMachine disk ...

Thanks!

BackupLoupe ReviewExcellent and promising application - Version: 1.2, 6/13/2009 10:21PM PST

The strength of this product is in its ability to show you exactly what is contained in any TimeMachine backup snapshot. As far as I know, this is the only utility that specifically does this, and for the most part it does it very well.

There's a lingering problem in 1.2 with respect to saving scans. I have a large TM set on my MacPro and have managed to crash the application. I anticipate that this is something that will be taken care of in subsequent versions. It's more of an annoyance than anything else, as scanning is not where the failure occurs, only saving the scans, which isn't a deal breaker.

1.2 also added QuickLook support, and I can't wait to see where this utility is headed - Great Start.

P.S. at 0.99 euros this is more "tipware" than "shareware" and I encourage anyone using this to chip in!

BackupLoupe CommentaryBackupLoupe Is Improving, so I Donated - Version: 1.1, 5/25/2009 02:57PM PST

BackupLoupe Is Improving, so I Donated $1.43 USD.

Problem - If Scan All is cancelled, cannot resume.
Suggestion - Would like searchable index of backups.
