Product Description:
Dock Gone will keep the Mac OS X Dock out of your way so that it doesn't interrupt your work.
While you can always hide the Dock, it will reappear whenever you mouse over the edge of the screen, blocking whatever is below the cursor. And you can be sure it will happen at the worst time. Dock Gone prevents this by moving the Dock completely out of your way, effectively turning it off until you ask for it back.
Many ways to hide a Dock:
Dock Gone gives you several ways to turn the Dock off or back on.
- within the Dock Gone Preference Pane in System Preferences
- In a menu in the menu bar.
- Using a global keyboard shortcut that you define.
What's new in this version:
- Before the update sites had even posted 1.0b3, Tim found a new wrinkle in the phantom tiny dock. I quickly posted this update.
- added the option to triple-click the icon to toggle the Dock.
- The tiny dock remnant that was annoying some users should almost never appear now. Please notify me if you find a place where it does appear.
- Changed the menubar icon (thanks Stephen)
- Fixed some errors in the Documentation (Thanks Artie)

tim.lanceStill, for the difference between free and $10 ($15 once out of beta), each user must make a decision. Me, I'm opting for DG.

All I want is to prevent the hidden dock from popping up and interfering with what I am doing.
This does that perfectly. I can hide/reveal the dock with a shortcut of my choosing.
Support by the author is superb.
The bad:
When either hiding or revealing the dock, ALL minimized windows become un-minimized.
They pop up like zombies, and interfere with what I am doing.
This would be at least 4 out of 5 if it were not for that.
