Just one flaw, but a significant one.

Been thrashing all day for two days with nothing ever showing up anywhere plus no ill effects on 9 DragThing Docks over all 4 screen edges, nor with MaxMenus. Better than even when shrinking and hiding it up under the menu bar in pre-Leopard OSs. Promptly responsive developer.

Just tried KNO and the main difference is that DG does the "move the tiny dock location" thing so well. This matters if you have hotcorners. With KOD the presence of its minimized Dock conflicts with that corner (is also 3x longer than DG's - at least on my system). With DG when you mouse to the corner where the Dock might popup the Dock shifts to the opposite corner making the previous corner easily available for hotability.
Still, for the difference between free and $10 ($15 once out of beta), each user must make a decision. Me, I'm opting for DG.

Re tim.lance's "Once DG is invoked moving your mouse down to the bottom will bring up this incredibly small (maybe a quarter inch long and 3/32 inch tall "thing" way to the right of the bottom of your screen. *That's* your Dock. And, it's functinal."
KnockOutDock <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23495> does the EXACT same thing, FREE!!!
Note, though, that although the app, itself, is not Leopard compatible, if you run it from the standalone it works in both directions, i.e. install and uninstall. (The length of your new Dock will vary depending on how many apps are in it, but its height will be as described.)

What the problem is that the Dock is not banished or otherwise disappeared. But then the description cleverly does not say that DG will do so. DG does indeed get it totally out of your way, just like the description says. So you have your Dock set to hide and on the bottom. Once DG is invoked moving your mouse down to the bottom will bring up this incredibly small (maybe a quarter inch long and 3/32 inch tall "thing" way to the right of the bottom of your screen. *That's* your Dock. And, it's functinal. I long for the days of hiding it under the top but am also finding I like having the dang thing around every once in a blue moon. Still not convinced I'm going to pay $10.
All I want is to prevent the hidden dock from popping up and interfering with what I am doing.
This does that perfectly. I can hide/reveal the dock with a shortcut of my choosing.
Support by the author is superb.
The bad:
When either hiding or revealing the dock, ALL minimized windows become un-minimized.
They pop up like zombies, and interfere with what I am doing.
This would be at least 4 out of 5 if it were not for that.
