SpeedBit Video Accelerator for Mac CommentaryWorks...but expensive. - Version: 1.0.1.0, 8/24/2009 09:09PM PST

Hooner
I have had a very noticeable improvement in download times for HD videos from YouTube, which makes this program highly useful. However, the price is prohibitively expensive. It not only costs $40 (down from $50), but they are charging this as an annual fee. Am I getting season tickets to the Met here?! How does this program entail annual costs to the producers?

A note to the makers of this program: users are not going to pay high prices for these types of programs that provide system tweaks or enhancements since they often become obsolete within a short period of time or are replaced by other lower-cost shareware/freeware options. This is Preference Pane not a subscription service. Drop the annual fee, lower the price, and make-up the difference in volume.

SpeedBit Video Accelerator for Mac ReviewSystem Dependent - Version: 1.0.1.0, 4/24/2009 11:42AM PST

Pro's:
You might get slight improvements on a hardwired ethernet , maybe.
Cons:
Deceptively described as shareware. It is not. It is a commercial product you get to demo for 14 days and during that 14 days you are badgered to register for a 20 dollar a year subscription . Also , instead of speeding anything up it slowed mine down.

If you run a high end Mac with a good internet, it might help, maybe, we will have towait for proof of that but till then avoid.

Everything seems fine, though I haven't seen any vast improvements. It's a bit like Speed Download - sounds brilliant but in practice unless you and the remote site are 100 MB/sec then not much happens. But one can imagine ... whilst going to the kitchen to make a cup of tea ... that things have gotten quicker.
