Despite the claim that it works on 10,5 and 10.6 when you attempt to run it, it tells you to down load an older version 1.3.7 or some such

Looks like a great tool for the technically proficient.

But to demand that I have a password!

I don't want an administrator password. I haven't needed one for the last 10 years and I don't intend to start now because your application won't work with a blank one.

Don't act as a dictator. It's not becoming. There's far too many of them in this world.

iTweaX ReviewSnow Leopard - 64Bit mode - Version: 2.0.3, 9/20/2009 11:12AM PST

I booted Snow Leopard into 64 Bit mode and this app caused a Kernel Panic. Don't use it in 64Bit mode!! You can force boot Snow Leopard into 64 bit mode by holding down the "6" and "4" keys while booting your mac.

Other than that, when I rebooted into the normal mode, it worked like a charm!! It has a lot of features and best of all its free.

I just downloaded iTweaX and started it up. It won't recognize my (correct) password. It also won't quit. I have to use Force Quit to get it to go away. Any suggestions?

I mailed the developer and he responded very fast. Requested some features incl. dock size locking and reported a small issue. My requests will be implemented asap.
Great support indeed.

not actually tried this yet ....I might have if i had known about it but it is not listed on the 'other' site for some reason.
It looks good ....and I agree about onyx being bloated and not functioning properly ...i stopped using it long time ago.
One thing i noticed when I started it up which I did not like was the invisible backup files it created.
These should all be inside one clearly named visible folder.
And there is no option to lock the dock size.

Thanks

Cool OSX utility. Works beautiful.
Alltough it has stolen some looks, features and ideas from other tweaking tools it captured all the best of them. Updates seems to be frequent and that's a good sign. Can't wait for the next update ;-) ;-)
Conclusion - I prefer iTweax above other OSX tweak utilities.

iTweaX CommentaryNew release: Fixed crashing bug - Version: 1.10, 4/13/2009 11:34AM PST

itweax
@ Jay : You are right! After iTweaX 1.10 asked to reboot the system it crashes.
This is now fixed within version 1.11 (btw a very stupid bug)

About looking like Onyx:
This is partly true. I used Onyx a lot in the past but it had some shortcomings and dislikes. (big binary, disabled tweaks aren't 100% removed in the prefs, cache cleaning not always working correctly, many obsolete tweaks (options you can access without tweaking),...)
So I wrote my own app about 1 year ago. Friends asked me to make my application public and so I recently did. :-)

BTW If Onyx works for you then that's ok for me. If you want something little bit different then try iTweaX.

Peace out...

iTweaX ReviewIt crashes at the end of cleaning and maintenance. - Version: 1.10, 4/13/2009 10:58AM PST

Jay
It ran the tweaks, permissions fix, and scripts, but when it told me to shut down after cache cleaning it just froze my system.

Also, this app is almost EXACTLY like OnyX. But the difference is that OnyX has been in development for years, and it has NEVER affected my system negatively.
