Product Description:

Get the latest Mozilla Messaging beta release of Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird makes e-mailing safer, faster, and easier with such features as intelligent spam filters, a built-in RSS reader, and quick search. Thunderbird was designed to prevent viruses and to stop junk mail so you can get back to reading your mail. Thunderbird provides effective tools for detecting junk mail. Its tools analyze your e-mail and identify those that are most likely to be junk. You can automatically have your junk mail deleted or you can put it in a folder you specify, just in case you like reading junk mail.

What's new in this version:

A new Activity Manager, a new ability to Archive email, faster IMAP speeds, and many major bug fixes are included in this release.

Prefer the new Postbox mail client to Thunderbird. Postbox supports search within your mailbox, Gmail-style conversation view, and photo (attachment) management. I've found it much easier to work with than TB.

Postbox is frequently updated, too. Strongly recommended.

A few days ago, I downloded Thunderbird 3.b02 directly from Mozilla's web site. Creation date 2/18/09. Works perfectly, all its options and functions.
The one I downloaded from the link supplied in VersionTracker, once installed, does not display Preferences, and under 'Help" the option 'Check for updates' is grayed out.
I consider it surprising, I have trashed it, and resumed using Thunderbird 3.0b2, creation date 2/18/09 downloaded from Mozilla's web site.
Therefore I do not recommend the use of the application obtained through VersionTracker's link.
