TM Error Logger CommentaryAdmins only - but why? - Version: 2.04, 10/11/2009 05:23AM PST

Glasgow

I was curious about this utility and decided to give it a quick try out. However, it fell flat on its face before it even got started. I fired it up and got the following alert message:
"Unable to read system.log.
You must be logged in as an Admin to use TM Error Logger."    [ OK ]

Click on [ OK ] and I'm straight back in the Finder.

My day-to-day account is a non-admin account - I spend the majority of my time in it. This error makes the utility un-useable.

In spite of using a non-admin account, I sometimes monitor TimeMachine's activity in Console, without problem. If what the previous comment says about this app simply reading the log file is true, then this would seem to be a nonsense.

Would somebody from Carnation Software care to comment?

TM Error Logger ReviewUseless - Version: 2.03, 7/2/2009 07:48AM PST

This app just shows the system.log as the Console does when the word "backup" is typed in the search box. Sorry but it's useless in my humble opinion.

The tested PPC version is also really sluggish…

TM Error Logger ReviewHandy little app - Version: 2.03, 6/6/2009 01:51PM PST

While it doesn't do anything that even a moderately knowledgeable user cannot do on their own, I find this little app to be a handy and helpful shortcut.
