Do you ever find yourself wanting to jot down your thoughts and ideas but don't want to disturb your workflow? SlidePad is a powerful, convenient note-taking application for Mac OS X, that slides in from the side of your screen when you want to take notes, and slides back out again when you're done.

Key features in a nutshell:

Quick and unobtrusive note-taking. SlidePad integrates seamlessly with your workflow: you call it up with a keyboard shortcut, enter your notes, and hide it again with the same keyboard shortcut. And that without every leaving your keyboard.
Powerful editing. Spice up your notes with SlidePad's powerful text editing features: format the notes with your favorite font family, style and size. SlidePad also lets you add images and photos with simple drag and drop.
Flexible options. SlidePad allows you to choose from which side of the screen to appear (left or right), and lets you set the key combination to show and hide the notepad.

What's new in this version:

Importing and exporting notes. With the new version users can import notes from RTF, HTML, Microsoft Word and text documents. Moreover, users can export notes to RTF for backup or for editing in applications such as TextEdit, Microsoft Word or Apple Pages, among others.
More formatting options. You can now create bullet and numbered lists, change the line spacing, set the text alignment and many more formatting options that you would normally only expect from a word processor.
Adapting further to your workflow. The new version further adapts to your workflow. You can resize the width and height of the notepad area to fit your needs. You can also turn off sliding the notepad in and out with the mouse.

...by some of the good reviews here which are highly suspicious.

I would encourage you not to even download this dreadful rip-off. Don't encourage this unscrupulous fellow by swelling the downloads number.

Why do I say "rip-off"? 1) Read the posts below, 2) Download the truly marvellous "Sidenote" ( http://www.chatelp.org/ ), and judge for yourself, noting that Sidenote comes FREE with just a request for a donation.

In yet another coup for these folks who bring us SlidePad, now this has been snatched up by a new group and now they have taken another honestly good piece of software called MainMenu, slapped what amounts to no more than a cosmetic touch-up on it and are now charging $20 for something that was free and worked just fine.

I don't know about anyone else, but this sort of thing just really feels slimy. No shame or remorse. Very disheartening.

If you like MainMenu, stick with 1.0 because it's free.

SlidePad on the other hand is a blatant rip-off of another very good piece of software called sideNote. Stick with sideNote.

I also regarded this as an evil ripoff of Sidenote. But..ummm...actually (with this version) it's a lot better � essentially a full-fledged word processor in a resizable slide-out window. Not only better, but worth paying for. (Though $20 is a bit steep.)

And, as morepowerfulastronaut notes, there's no crime in similarity.
