iClip Lyrics ReviewGreat App, does as advertised - Version: 2.0.4, 9/12/2009 04:17AM PST

I bought this app after trying it out. I was pleasantly surprised it was so good and that you could update entire playlists at once. Searching for lyrics was a piece of cake when it didn't find them in the lyric wiki too.

This little app is GREAT at pulling in lyrics and seems to run totally in the background. However, two problems have caused me to inactivate the app until the next revision.

Beginning of a track in iTunes - Causes the track to stop for a second or three.

Last Played - somehow the date and time isn't always updated on a track after it is finished. I use smart playlists that rely on the date so I hear the least recently played. All of a sudden I was hearing the same track repeated within a few hours, so knew something was awry.

Fix these two minor annoyances and I'll be back in the fold!!!

iClip Lyrics ReviewGreat Little Application!! - Version: 1.4, 4/25/2009 08:22AM PST

To be honest, I did not expect much from this program but have been very pleasantly surprised. It installed without a problem and has permitted me to update all of my iTunes files with their lyrics. You simply launch the app and allow it to run as you listen to your favorite tunes. You have the choice of allowing the app to run as an open window - always on top - or, with the lyrics window in the background. As the song queue advances, the resizable lyrics window very quickly updates the words in the window to that of the current song. I would guestimate that the app finds correct tune words about 95% of the time. You can also click through your song list fairly quickly and the program will promptly populate lyrics for each song nearly as fast as you want to go.There were occasions when the wrong lyrics were found, but that was rare.

Sometimes at the bottom of the lyrics window, you will see a message that says that it cannot find the lyrics. For those occasions, the program has a search button (a magnifying glass) there that when clicked, immediately launches your default browser and further, shows Google listings for the lyrics of the current song. You can then easily find the lyrics, copy them, which then automatically pastes the copied lyrics into a slide-out clipboard window. There, you can edit the lyrics as you wish. Once edited (or not), press the "paste lyrics" button at the bottom of the clipboard window and the text on the clipboard moves into the lyrics window. Very slick and painless!

Once the lyrics words populate the lyrics window they are automatically saved. A caveat however, is that if you edit *within the LYRICS window* you must click on the refresh button (circular arrow) at the bottom of the window for the changes to be refreshed and saved. There is also an "X" button at the bottom of the lyrics window to clear the window of all content should you wish to do that.

What I would like to see in the program:
1) Ability to set auto launch of program when iTunes is opened.
2) The ability to determine the site from which lyrics are obtained.

Overall, this utility is EXCELLENT for a free app. I donated $12 for it, which I felt was fair for the amount of work that it saved me. I have not had a reason to contact the developer, so I cannot speak to request/problem response. I highly recommend this program!
