Product Description:

Customize Spaces with a different desktop picture for each Space. With SpaceSuit, you can set your background images via a simple drag-and-drop. And changing the display settings is as easy. SpaceSuit's minimalist interface is contained in its dock icon: all its options can be accessed from the icon menu. SpaceSuit also uses Leopard's Core Animation. Everytime you change an image, resize it or modify your display settings, SpaceSuit adjusts your desktop with a smooth animation.

What's new in this version:

Assign a name to each Space
Change Space from SpaceSuit Dock menu using the Space name
New menu option lets you change the current space name and background color for images that don't cover the full screen
Growl notifications on Space changes
Sparkle support
Fixed French translation
Images now default to Fit to Screen

I don't know why Apple hasn't implemented this little feature, so kudos to someone for finally putting one together that works. Something tells me Snow Leopard might find this capability.

My unsolicited suggestions:

*Create a menu bar accessible drop-down that can more or less replace the Apple/Spaces one that includes the preferences only accessible from the dock item now. By the way, I had no idea they were there--which is why I suggest the menu bar item. I had no idea I could rename each individual space.

*On that same note, allow for the ''hiding'' of the dock icon--basically, like some other utilities, allow for menu bar + dock, menu bar only, and dock only.

*Perhaps allow for the space title to appear on each space/desktop or next to the menu bar item if you decide to create it.

*Allow for patterns in addition to images--this of course means you will have to add the ability to repeat the pattern along with the stretch to fill and other ''fitting'' items.

Look forward to adding this to my little list of ''absolute must have'' free utilites for the Mac.
