Just trialling the software and it crashes for me any time I try to convert an mkv file to anything else. Will contact developer... but not a good sign.
Get it!! Excellent Mac product!

I first looked up under 'swf to mov converter' but what I found was crap. One web site was confusing to the maximum as to what they offered in addition to their understatement on Version Tracker as to their actual price. Then by doing a Google search I came upon Prism. What a relief! What an excellent Mac product! It's simply intuitive without any real need for instructions. It does excellently swf to mov for what in the near future I will be doing for my Relativity Calculator [ www.relativitycalculator.com ] in converting some of the swfs to movs for inclusion in Adobe's Acrobat Pro for making pdfs. Their initial offering of Prism is free but it's so reasonable that I got the Prism Video Format Converter (Plus MPEG2 Edition) and am happy to have done so! Now, my question to Version Tracker is why isn't Prism listed under 'swf to mov converter' or 'swf to video converter'? Huh?? I am also forwarding this feedback note back to Prism folks. Best of everything to them for a terrific Mac PPC and Intel product!! Don Saar, drdonzi@crocker.com, Relativity Calculator, www.relativitycalculator.com

And about time! I have been waiting for a simple, easy to use .avi converter for the mac for a long time now and this is a great solution that allows me to now use see my movies in Front Row
How fast is it? Well, when some production house sends us a DVD recorded without copy protection, it takes real time to capture the video into an avi. And then we might need a mov copy or avi. So it'll take 1x time, plus the additional conversions.
Other converters seem to choke, for instance on H.264. Or they deliver an mpeg 1 with the audio out of sync. Or the other converter does the wmv well, but only with a specific original.
This converter is FAST. Drop in the DVD, and it converted a Video_TS folder of an 1:40 movie in 44 minutes. Put the same DVD in the line and make a wmv -- again, half time. It batches very easily
