Product Description:

Newsflash is an OpenSource Usenet newsreader featuring:
  • a user-friendly Aqua GUI
  • MIME and UUencoded attachment support
  • multi-threaded (non-blocking) operation
  • multiple NNTP server support
  • true (by-reference) article threading.
    Newsflash is a 100% native MacOS X app developed with COCOA and Objective-C.
    Newsflash is an Open Source project released under a BSD-style licence.
    Newsflash is still in the early (alpha) stages of development. This preview release may contain serious bugs - use at your own risk! Many features are planned but not yet implemented including:
  • Filtering/kill-files
  • Searching/sorting
  • Keyboard navigation
  • User preferences

    Certainly a GREAT applications, though I wasn't able to launch it neither on 10.2.8 nor 10.3.2.

    Our local news server has over 66000 newsgroups each of which has many thousands of postings available. As far as I can tell there is no way to tell NewsFlash not to download every posting header when all you need to do when starting is mark every subscribed/favourite newsgroup as read and/or download only the most recent, say, 500 postings. I couldn't shake off the wretched beach ball.

    Back to MTNewswatcher, might return in a few months, when some of the bugs have been ironed out.
