Product Description:

Use TechTool Pro to keep your Macintosh running smoothly. TechTool Pro is a full-featured utility program containing options for testing and repair, maintenance (including disk defragmentation), and data recovery. All it takes is one click of the mouse to perform a comprehensive suite of tests on your computer's hardware and attached drives. TechTool Pro does it all. There is no need to purchase additional software to keep your computer performing at its best.

You don't need to be an expert technician to run TechTool Pro. The interface allows you to easily perform a comprehensive suite of tests unattended, so even novices can run the program with just one click of the mouse. At the conclusion of testing a detailed report is generated. This report summarizes what was done, alerts you of any problems that were found, and instructs you how to proceed in that case.

An innovative feature unique to TechTool Pro is the eDrive. The program lets you create an emergency startup partition that includes TechTool Pro on one of your hard drives. It does this without the need to reinitialize your hard drive. Once you have an eDrive (which can be easily updated), you no longer need to use the program DVD for testing or maintenance.

TechTool Pro Troubleshooting ReportBEWARE!!! - Version: 5.0.6, 11/8/2009 12:49AM PST

I bought the new TechTool Pro 5.06 and used it on my iMac running Snow Leopard.

I started up from the eDrive I had created and did a File Optimization, Volume Optimization and Volume Rebuild on my startup HD. I had all my information backed up on 4 separate Hard Disks, all of it in duplicate.

After the last operation, WHAM, WHAM, WHAM, WHAM and WHAM - my startup disk and ALL FOUR of my backup disks showed up as locked. Absoultely NO WAY to unlock these. I had hopes I had found a solution using the terminal commands recommended here:
http://mactrainingguide.com/2008/11/unlocking-a-hard-disc-in-mac-os-x-using-terminal/
No such luck. I am locked out on all my disks.

Net result, I have lost absolutely ALL MY INFORMATION and, with the apparent corruption on my disks, I'm not at all optimistic of getting any of it back.

Talk about a major disaster.

I cannot guarantee the problem lies with TechTool of course, but why take a chance? So, beware before you try TechTool Pro 5.0.6 with SnowLeopard!!!

So I get this notice about an update from TTP505 to 506 and I got to the Micromat site. I am presented with a publicity page telling me about the wonderful features of TechTool Pro 5 but no link to download the update.

Can anyone tell me where I click to actually get the update to download to my computer?

Seems the update doesn't go through...instead this warning message appears:

"An error occurred while downloading the update. Please try again later."

And, of course, "later" never comes...so a telephone call's in order—
let's hope that helps.
