TomTom Home Troubleshooting ReportNew version DOES NOT WORK on OSX 5.8 - Version: 2.7.2.598, 10/17/2009 05:44AM PST

I have had Tom Tom for about 3 years now. No issues until now. Just downloaded this, after reading all comments. Will not load on my Macbook Intel Lepard 5.8. Following is the error message- program WILL NOT OPEN. Don't download if you need to actually use your TomTom!

ERROR: DesktopSuite/DestopSuiteApp/Resources missing from the PC/Translations: We're sorry but an error has occurred during the use of HOME on your computer. Please contact Customer Support.

TomTom Home ReviewGetting better with each release - Version: 2.7.2.598, 10/15/2009 07:38AM PST

I've been using TomTom Home for about a couple of years. The earliest iterations were awful, but each succeeding one gets better. The present one, in common with its recent predecessors, is well thought out, works well and causes no problems. It took a long time but TomTom has finally produced a usable program, so congratulations to them. The program doesn't have the look and feel of a Mac program (I assume it's a port from the PC version) so it lacks a certain elegance, but otherwise it's fine.

TomTom Home CommentaryVersion??? - Version: 2.6.4.356, 6/15/2009 01:44PM PST

yesterday, when I saw this I went to my own TomTom Home to see if it was current, figuring I'd download the "official" way. It did tell me that there was a newer version, but it was not this number, but an earlier one, 2.6.3.313. I don't understand. I did upgrade to that. I just tried again through the application, and it tells me there is no newer version than 2.6.3.313. Could this one be bogus?

TomTom Home Usage TipPossible Crashes - Version: 2.6.2.264, 5/17/2009 09:17AM PST

Since the version 2.6.x I had trouble with TomTom Home: The program always crashed when I tried to update my 720. I found that this was caused by a preference entry: The downloads directory was on a network drive (volume). As soon as I changed it to the local harddisk it worked again. Hope this helps other people with the same problem.

TomTom Home ReviewSeems OK to me - Version: 2.6.2.264, 4/27/2009 09:44AM PST

I've had no problems with this update and my intel iMac running 10.5.6 and my TomTom 520. Generally, I have the impression that Tomtom Mac support has improved over the last year or so. I quite like the look of the software interface, although it's dreadfully non-Mac-like. But it looks OK and it works.

My biggest gripe with the Tomtom is how it doesn't work properly with the iPhone (but I'm not sure whose fault that is).

TomTom Home Commentarybutter - Version: 2.6.2.264, 4/26/2009 02:32PM PST

I installed this update without any problems, then used it for over an hour, updating my map and listening to the voice samples that you can add to your device, some free, some at a price. Everything went smooth as butter.
Me and my TomTom XL Europ 31.

TomTom Home ReviewTomTom Home app not up to par - Version: 2.6.1.238, 3/25/2009 07:05AM PST

Even with this update, TomTom Home device operation doesn't work at all on my Mac (PPC G4). After I try to invoke device operation through my Mac, TomTom Home defaults to the "Guam" map and crashes when I try to select the USA_and_Canada option. Not sure why Guam is the default, as I purchased the device through Amazon. Nevertheless, being able to operate my TomTom XL through the computer would be a huge time saver. Doesn't look like the app will ever work properly, given the comments I've seen. Yes, I've contacted Tech Support, but I'm not optimistic.

TomTom Home CommentaryRoute planning on mac - Version: 2.6.1.238, 3/24/2009 10:23AM PST

At last, the new version seems to allow route pre-planning. At least it doesn't crash anylonger when clicking the icon, though it's far from being perfect. On my iMac G5, running MacOS 10.4.11, the virtual navigator screen I get on my Mac doens't show the natural colors known from my TomTom Go 720 but quite psychedelic ones. It's a litte annoying looking on it. I've been waiting for this feature for more than a year and so I'm not completly satisfied with this release.

And I am even less satisfied with TomTom considering that this is about the fourth update in a year and they were not able to present this important feature in a decent manner.
