Disappointed with Technical Support - Version: 3.0.9 For Mac, 2/25/2009 07:58AM PST

This is my first commentary on this site, although I do use this site frequently. I've owned Fluid Mask for 2 months. I watched all the video tutorials on their site, which are quite informative. As a photographer, I had some difficulties masking people with dark hair who were in front of a dark background (low contrast). The same was true for lighter skinned blonde people in front of a light background. I contacted, via phone, their technical support department who referred me to their technical support technician, Mike. I tried to contact Mike multiple times over 5 weeks. I also sent emails to him with the pictures I was referencing, in order to get some specific work around. After attempting to call (long distant) 8 or more time, with multiple repeated emails, I still have not received an email or a call back. I actually called yesterday, leaving a message that I was going to leave a comment on this site about the lack of technical support, and they still did not contact me back. The site tutorials are a good learning tool, but please be aware that the contrast between the background and foreground, which is where the masks occur, is very strong. Most pictures to not have such a contrasty background. I use Photoshop extensively, but could not come up with a way to utilize Fluid Mask appropriately using adjustment layers or filters. I was disappointed with Vertus' lack of professionalism in never getting back to a customer. I've been trying for over a month before I decided to write this review. I believe the product works well as described in their tutorials. They also have live tutorials during the week. I could not get to those live tutorials to ask the questions, due to my work schedule. They do not appear to care about specific customers technical issues.
Call this price "shareware?" - Version: 3.0.9 For Mac, 1/10/2009 06:27PM PST
The Eck
The product might be extremely valuable and well-coded, and all, but to categorize a $200+ app as "shareware" is a little disingenuous.
