Snow Leopard users must choose between running their Safari browsers in the (out-dated) 32-bit mode or running Safari without Shockwave. See Adobe's tech note

Rendering incomplete w/11.5.1r601 on Test Page (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/) with Firefox 3.5.1. Works fine in Safari 4.0.2, though.

Adobe Shockwave Player Commentaryrendering errors - Version: 11.5.0r600, 6/16/2009 12:11PM PST

After installing 11.5.0r600, Shockwave had rendering problems when I display the web page at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Affected browsers:
Sunrise (webkit)
Firefox (gecko)

The first time that I displayed the page, I experienced about 15% excessive CPU usage with the Safari browser. After I quit and re-started Safari, the page behaved better.

However, I did not encounter either problem using the Opera or SeaMonkey browsers.

After installing 11.5.0r596, Shockwave takes up all spare CPU cycles for an indefinitely long time when I display the web page at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Affected browsers:
Safari and Sunrise (webkit)
Firefox and SeaMonkey (gecko)

However, I did not encounter this problem using the Opera browser.

Adobe Shockwave Player CommentaryGet the full version if you have any connection faster than 33.6 K - Version: 11.5.0r596, 5/1/2009 02:24PM PST

This is "slim" installer and it is almost guaranteed to download other components from within the plugin itself creating issues all the time.

If you are interested in shockwave and use it frequently,I suggest this full version which you can pick from the form below (it is drop down form, doesn't ask for mail or anything)

http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/

Careful about CPU/Arch choice and picking "Safari" or "Firefox" has NO difference at all, OS X uses a central place for plugins, come on Adobe people!

Downloaded and installed but when I go to the Adobe test site (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/) it still reports I'm using version 11.5.r.595 with Safari version 4 PB.

Same with Firefox/3.1b3.

Anyone else?

Adobe Shockwave Player CommentaryShockwave for Director is working incorrectly now - Version: 11.5.0r595, 3/24/2009 05:05PM PST

After downloading the full installation version and running the installer, I went to www.candystand.com where there are several Shockwave for Director games. In Firefox 3, I got nothing to work, but in Safari 3, I got the Shockwave for Director logo and the progress bar, as if it was going to download more--how full an installation can it be? In any case, it locked up Safari and I've yet to try a third browser, but I'd think that someone might have tested this plug-in more thoroughly.
