Product Description:

Make your QT movies, YouTube videos, and podcasts accessible. MovCaptioner allows you to add captions to your movies and make transcripts of your videos or podcasts as quickly as you can type. MovCaptioner keeps repeating a segment of the movie until you are done typing what you hear. Just hit the Return key and it will save your caption and automatically advance to the next few seconds of the movie, allowing you to zip through your captioning tasks in no time flat. You don't need to be a QuickTime guru, either. The caption track is added automatically with the click of a button. And clicking the Transcript button compiles all the captions into one concise text file. If you can type, you can make your movies accessible.

Supports: embedded QT captions, SCC Closed Captions, SMIL, Flash DFXP, JW Player Timed Text (TT), Common Look and Feel (CLF) Player, Adobe Encore captions, Spruce STL, Subrip SRT, Subviewer SUB, SAMI, and creates transcripts in both paragraph form and line-by-line with timecode in both plain text and HTML formats.

MovCaptioner can also import text files so you can time them with your movie simply by clicking the Return key as each caption is spoken. It can also import other caption formats such as SCC, STL, SRT, SUB, XML, and QuickTime Text files

What's new in this version:

  • Added SCC closed caption format export option. Will embed closed captions directly into QuickTime movies
  • Can now import timecode and captions from QT Text files
  • Added the ability to export transcripts as an HTML page
  • Adding a paragraph tag

will create a paragraph in HTML and also in Transcripts (paragraph form).
Paragraph tags will be ignored in other exports.

  • Changed Import Text in Paragraph Form to respect carriage returns as separate captions
  • Changed default name for transcripts to put "Transcripts" at the end instead of the beginning
  • Fixed an issue with Import Text in Paragraph Form where it would combine very long sentences onto one caption
  • Fixed an issue with Split Caption button where the letter preceding the cursor would get repeated on the next caption
  • Fixed a bug where opening a smaller project resulted in the same number of captions as previous project, only the extra captions were blank.
Note: Snow Leopard users MUST install QuickTime 7 (available on your Snow Leopard install disk). QuickTime X is not yet fully functional and will not work with MovCaptioner.

MovCaptioner Troubleshooting ReportIf MovCaptioner should crash for you there is an easy fix... - Version: 3.2, 11/3/2009 07:48PM PST

pbesong
With the new undo/redo MovCaptioner is supposed to create a folder in your MovCaptioner folder called "Temp". It should create this folder on its own to hold scratch files as you work, then it will delete them all when you're done. If it does not create the folder, it may cause the problem. Make sure that your MovCaptioner folder is in your main hard drive's Applications folder, then simply create a folder called "Temp" in your MovCaptioner folder. That should solve the problem. Opening a previously saved project should also create this folder. I've added this folder to the new zip file so it should be there in the future to prevent this.

MovCaptioner Troubleshooting ReportSnow Leopard Users MUST install QuickTime 7 - Version: 3.0, 9/11/2009 06:43AM PST

Please note that the default verison of the QuickTime Player that is installed with Snow Leopard, QuickTime X, is not fully functional and will not work with MovCaptioner. You must install QuickTime 7, which should be on your Snow Leopard install disk in order to use MovCaptioner. QuickTime X does not support the QT Pro features which are necessary for importing captions into QT movies.
