Product Description:

MovCaptioner keeps repeating a segment of the movie until you are done typing what you hear. Just hit the Return key and it will save your caption and automatically advance to the next few seconds of the movie, allowing you to zip through your captioning tasks in no time flat.

You don't need to be a QuickTime guru, either. The caption track is added automatically with the click of a button. And exporting Transcripts compiles all the captions into one concise text file, with or without timecode. If you can type, you can make your movies and YouTube videos accessible!

Already have transcripts and just need to add them as captions to your movies? MovCaptioner will allow you to import the text as captions, making the job a snap! It will also import other caption formats such as SCC, STL, XML, SRT, QT Text, and SUB to convert to other supported formats.

Now that Final Cut Pro 7 can import SCC files, creating Line 21 captions just got easier as well. Just import the SCC file MovCaptioner creates into Final Cut Pro when printing to tape and you're done!

Let me know if you run into any troubles, please, and thanks for trying MovCaptioner! If you've tried it in the past but it tells you your trial has expired, drop me a line and I can get you a few days extension.

    What's new in this version:

    • Fixed a bug that caused MovCaptioner to crash if it was not installed properly. It will now create a Temp folder (for Undo/Redo/Revert) in whichever folder the application is installed. It is still highly recommended that it be installed in its own folder in the Applications folder, however.
    • You can now select which row you want SCC captions to start on. Default is row 15. A pulldown menu in the Text Properties area allows you to select the row, then click the Change button next to it to change the selected caption's starting row.
    • Under the Edit menu, you can use Change All SCC Rows To Current Selection to move all SCC rows at once.
    • SCC caption export will automatically find and replace characters such as smart quotes, apostrophes, ellipses, and em-dashes that can cause errors in SCC exports.
    • New option under Export menu allows you to export only the SCC file without importing it into QuickTime. It is still recommended to use the Sonic Scenarist (SCC) option to check timing and adjust with Shift All Start Times option under the Edit menu.
    • Split Caption button now recognizes when timecode has been changed to 1 HR start time.
If you've tried MovCaptioner in the past, but it tells you your trial is expired, email me and I can get you an extension. Note: Snow Leopard users MUST install QuickTime 7 (available on your Snow Leopard install disk). QuickTime X is not yet fully functional and will not work with MovCaptioner.

MovCaptioner Troubleshooting ReportIf MovCaptioner should crash for you there is an easy fix... - Version: 3.2, 11/3/2009 07:48PM PST

    pbesong
With the new undo/redo MovCaptioner is supposed to create a folder in your MovCaptioner folder called "Temp". It should create this folder on its own to hold scratch files as you work, then it will delete them all when you're done. If it does not create the folder, it may cause the problem. Make sure that your MovCaptioner folder is in your main hard drive's Applications folder, then simply create a folder called "Temp" in your MovCaptioner folder. That should solve the problem. Opening a previously saved project should also create this folder. I've added this folder to the new zip file so it should be there in the future to prevent this.

MovCaptioner Troubleshooting ReportSnow Leopard Users MUST install QuickTime 7 - Version: 3.0, 9/11/2009 06:43AM PST

Please note that the default verison of the QuickTime Player that is installed with Snow Leopard, QuickTime X, is not fully functional and will not work with MovCaptioner. You must install QuickTime 7, which should be on your Snow Leopard install disk in order to use MovCaptioner. QuickTime X does not support the QT Pro features which are necessary for importing captions into QT movies.
