Adobe Reader Troubleshooting ReportAdobe PDFViewer Plugin still not 64-bit compatible. - Version: 9.2, 10/14/2009 10:01PM PST

DEspite the upgrade to v9.2, the Adobe PDFViewer Plugin remains v9.1 and is only compatible with Safari 4 if that browser is set to run in 32-bit mode. I hope Adobe fixes this soon, since the built-in viewer in Safari has fewer features.

For the life of me I can't think of a reason to DL this software. I've done well with Preview and can't think of one reason that I need Reader with it's inherent problems.

So, what's with VersionTracker? Is there ANY app that works with 10.6? VT seems to think 10.5 is the latest from Apple. As far as Adobe Reader goes, nothing here about working with SL, so I assume it doesn't. I tried it but it dies as soon as launched. I haven't gotten Reader to open since updating to SL, but Preview's OK, so I'll stick with that. Or is this "new" version of Reader like all their last since 9.0... you have to download all incremental updates, since uploading to their own site 9.1.3 complete seems to be beyond the AdobeGeeks' many many talents.

Adobe Reader Troubleshooting ReportUpdate does not work - Version: 9.1.3, 8/23/2009 12:37AM PST

Similar to the reader who posted a while ago, the Adobe updater to 9.1.2 does not work on 9.1.1. I have a new iMac on OS X 10.5.8 and the installer says I have modified my Reader application, which I have not done.

I downloaded 9.1.0 and tried to apply 9.1.1 immediately afterwards, but I got the same message.

Adobe's updaters (at least for Mac OS) need work!

Adobe Reader Troubleshooting ReportAdobe Reader 9.1.3 PPC - Version: 9.1.3, 8/3/2009 04:40PM PST

When I have any PDF file open and push the 'print' icon, Reader hangs at the print dialogue box, and I have to force-quit. However, using the keyboard shortcut apple-p and hitting return prints no problem.

Adobe Reader ReviewSafari plugin also launches much faster than previous versions - Version: 9.1.3, 8/3/2009 12:31PM PST

The 9.1.3 Safari plugin also launches much faster than previous versions - enough to make it my default for the first time ever.

When I first installed it (running Safari 3.0.4 on OS 10.4.11), a dialog box would come up every time I opened a PDF from the web - no default application, need to choose Adobe Reader again. Put off by this, I reran the Schubert installer ;-). After this, Adobe was still the default application, but sans dialog box, and amazingly quick. Go figure. I also like how the display modes make optimum use of my screen, with a minimum of fuss. This one's a keeper.

Adobe Reader Commentarycan't select printers in "Page Setup" - Version: 9.1.2, 8/1/2009 12:43PM PST

Last week, I installed the latest version for 10.4 PPC. When I went to the page setup menu, it didn't show any of my printers. So I went to the Adobe support section, and found that it has been a problem for at least a year. There is a work around, to go to the printer setup and set the desired printer as default. This seemed like just one extra step to me.

I have several printers and didn't want to do this each time I change printers. So I uninstalled 9 the next day and am happily back with 8.

Adobe Reader ReviewLaunches much faster than earlier versions - Version: 9.1.3, 7/31/2009 12:20PM PST

When Adobe Reader launches, it asks if you want it to be the default application for opening PDF files. I've been tempted because it has more capability than Preview, but I've always said no because it takes so long to launch. I just installed ver. 9.1.3 and it launches instantly. This time, I checked yes.

Adobe Reader CommentaryAdobe, we have a problem with 9.1.2 - Version: 9.1.2, 7/14/2009 05:50AM PST

On my brand spanking new iMac with 10.5.7, the installer quits half-way through. I get the following message: The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed. An odd message since I'm working off of a clean, fresh install of Reader 9.1.1.

Adobe Reader ReviewInstaller quits part way through - Version: 9.1.2, 7/3/2009 09:45AM PST

cprise
I downloaded the reader direct from Adobe to my Leopard / G4 system. When opening the installer package, a window with a strange logo and name appeared (seems Adobe created a custom installer and outsourced it to another company). After typing in my password and heeding the other prompts, a progress bar appears and after about 10% the whole installer disappears. It leaves a defunct Acrobat Reader app on my system, though if I try to open it I am told that the program needs updating. If I agree to update, it downloads and installs something which gets the app working, but leaves my system without any PDF web browser plugin whatsoever. At this point, neither Firefox 3.5 nor Safari 4 can view embedded PDFs, leaving me without a way to access some online bank statements and shipping labels at sites like Paypal and UPS.
