SilverFast SE is a solution from LaserSoft Imaging which combines the best of both worlds: high-end imaging technology for scanners for a very low cost.

Images will especially benefit from SilverFast's intelligent auto-adjust and LAB-based unsharp-masking, which does not sharpen the color noise of single channels, hence avoiding the extra noise.

    • What's new in this version:

      • General: free rotation could lead to black pixels in the corners of the final image if angle was very acute - fixed
      • Basic mode: SilverFast Basic mode now Leopard (OSX 10.5) compatible

    This is the ONLY scanner driver that supports the Umax Astra 2200 USB scanner under OS X. It makes Umax's OS 9 software looks like it rode the short yellow school bus.

    If you have a Umax Astra 2200 scanner and want OS X compatibility this is your ticket. It fully supports the transparency adapter as well.

    Why is it the Silverfast SE update always takes you to the AI demo page? Pain in the ass. I paid for this product (SE); I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get updates. If I wanted to upgrade to AI I'd do so. I don't need it, so I haven't upgraded and I don't appreciate this heavy handed technique to get me to buy an upgrade I don't want.
