This is not the easiest application to use mainly because of the language difficulty with the Support. You don't necessarily get the same person when you reply to a question. One problem I have is that the palettes in CS3 sit on top of the scanner window and the Photoshop menu covers the top of the scanner preview window. This means you can't grab the title frame and move the window around nor see the full window without closing the palettes in CS3 before you import the scanner. I have found that updates do not remove the previous version and install the new features and when installed there is no indication of what old bits should be manually removed. Today every time I tried to scan using the Photoshop plug-in, when the scan was completed CS3 would quit. I had to use Silverfast as a stand alone application and then open the scan separately in Photoshop. I am using version 6.5.0r3 because it is the only version that gives the minimum of problems. Although it has lots of features I would only recommend it with a warning. This is used with Tiger on a Mac G4.

I notice no feedback on SilverFast's driver for this (admittedly legacy) scanner - the installer does some wacky things, even in Tiger (what is the installer doing placing an alias to the app on my hard drive root folder, in between "Library" and "System", for instance - and another alias on my Desktop, and another in the Dock?
This version locks up when trying to import into Photoshop CS3 under Leopard.
I hope I can work it out - I'll call LaserSoft, they've always been helpful.
That said - the quality of the results from this scanning software beat anything I've seen by anyone else - and I'd recommend to anyone to leave Microtek's "ScanWizard" app on the CD it came on.

I'm amazed by how much better the scan quality is using Silverfast AI compared with Microtek's scan software for its i900 scanner. Scanning for professional results is work but once one learns Silverfast it does the job beautifully. I'm very appreciative for its help videos. What especially impresses me is how well this software is being supported and improved by the developer. This is a first-rate software developer and superior scanning software.
