Prefling CommentaryAn alternative if it doesn't work for you... - Version: 2.1.1, 6/5/2008 03:08PM PST

I loved Prefling in Jaguar, but couldn't get it to work in Panther. I just recently figured out how to make a folder full of aliases to the preference panes I use the most and I put that folder in the dock. Instructions here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071027102908243&query=preference%2Bpane%2Balias

Prefling CommentaryDoes not work in 2.33 C2D MBP - Version: 2.1.1, 11/8/2006 07:50AM PST

Clicking on icon produces no effect. Works great on my G5. Could it be a Intel issue?

would be great if the pop up menu showed the pref. panes icons next to the name.

So far so good with TIGER And to think that not too long ago I paid some shareware guy for the same thing except it was a drop down from the AppleMenuBar. Maybe someday Prefling could do both.

Prefling ReviewBeautiful - Version: 2.1, 5/5/2005 02:19PM PST

Works like a charm in 10.4; thanks!

I'd used Dockprefs for years, but it no longer works 100% (some items are listed twice).

pretty darn nice. i miss having pop-up folders with the control panels in OS9, so anything that lets me compact navigability in to a single dock icon is very, very welcome. it's a simple replacement for having System Preferences.app in the dock: the .app dock icon has a popup menu of the prefpanes, but only when the app is open. and since closing the window closes the app... yeah.

one request, however, is to have the option to mimic System Preferences.app by opening the "Show All" prefpanes view with a single click and control/right-clicking for the popup menu. still, though, the option to do it, as this would be a little annoying for the one-button mice among us.

Prefling CommentaryWorked great up until 10.3.6 - Version: 2.0, 12/13/2004 03:03PM PST

This app was fantastic up until I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.3.6. Now I can't get the menu to appear anymore. I remember something similar happened a while ago and then a new version came out which fixed the problem. Perhaps the Mac OS X Preferences API is a moving target?

Anyways, great app, but it needs an update.

Love the item, but it appears to be broken in 10.3.5
