Product Description:

FreeMind is intended for editing Mind maps, XML/HTML documents, and directory trees. In future, even network-structures will be supported such as Topic Maps (ISO). All this data is represented to the user as a Mind map. This is achived with a modular design, which makes it possible to easily write modules, only designing the model of the problem (the data structure), without caring for the visual representation at all. Currently a Mind Mapping and a File Mode are implemented. Version 0.8.1 is a bug-fixing release.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed: Plain text Long node gets corrupted (loses newlines) on drag * http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2844139&group_id=7118&atid=107118
  • Fixed: Question before delete issued from the menu added
  • Fixed: Message on status bar is cleared before save.
  • Improved: Graphical layout of password dialog for encryption
  • Improved: If a file exists in "File->Save as" the file dialog is repeated.
  • We now create two different versions for Mac: for OSX 10.5 Rosetta, there is a different one. These versions differ only in the way, the JavaApplicationStub is handled (the Rosetta version takes a copy from my laptop, the other version uses a symbolic link to /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Resources/MacOS/JavaApplicationStub)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

FreeMind ReviewShow much promise - Version: 0.9.0_RC_2, 3/5/2009 12:47AM PST

Giray
I love Freemind because it's a no nonsense, easy to use and understand mind mapping software. I hope that it stays acceptably light in features other than those that are truly pertinent to mind mapping. What I have found is that many mind mapping applications have become overbloated one stop shops for presentations, inventory and you name it. Some of us actually want a mind mapping software that helps us to map ideas. Let's hope Freemind sticks to this mantra.
