Product Description:

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

What's new in this version:

Version 0.10.2 is based on the recent release of QT 4.5, which should fix startup problems which some users experienced with version 0.10.1. This change should also solve some Mac rendering bugs and speed up the GUI elements of the program. A new projection mode is now available, called "Hammer-Aitoff", which allows for very wide fields of view (up to 360 degrees). This release also includes many bug fixes and some general performance tweaks.

Anything after version 0.9.1, Stellarium was very slow and video was glitchy. Now with 0.10.2, Stellarium works fast, and without glitches. Running a Mac Pro Quad 2.66 GHz with 8 GB of RAM.

Hurray! the latest release works again with PPC macs, so I can ditch 0.9.x

This is really a wonderful port -- Sure, the admin icons are a bit hard to see in the lower left corner, but once one gets their settings correct, these are unnecessary. Love this as a teaching tool for our kids. And just to play.
