Perplexed
game to be as advertised in the product description. It is not "a game to learn geography". It is merely a game to learn what the developer believes is the proper spelling of some world capitals. The game puts up a country and you have to provide the capital. Full marks for it not giving you multiple choice possibilities, but it loses ground by requiring you to exactly enter the spelling it believes is correct. For instance, it recognized "St John's" as a correct answer but not "St. John's" or "Saint John's". Similarly, I missed the capital of my own country because I put "Washington" and "Washington, D.C.", instead of "Washington, DC". I found it somewhat culturally insensitive that you had to give the anglicized version of the name, as well. It recognized "Rome" but not "Roma", "Prague" but not "Praha" or "Prag", "London" but not "Londres", for instance. Non-native English speakers will be particularly disadvantaged playing this game--even though they may know the answer. Future versions should definitely allow a much wider possibility of answers. It might even be appropriate to build in a "half-point" system of awarding partial credit for words nearly spelt correctly. I found it odd, too, that the ONLY game available was "Name the Capitals". It didn't even allow for a reversal "Name the Country" game (here's the capital, name the country), or a "Spot the Flag" game (here's the flag, name the country), or a "Where in the World Is ____?" (here's a country on a map, tell me its name) game. In sum, this product is very much in its infancy, but a few modifications might make it live up to its name. It really has very little to do with geography, however, as you're never tested on any spatial or locational information. As it is, it should be called "Doc How Do YOU Spell World Capitals X?"
