Product Description:

Because it was Easter and the kids are home I thought I'd give my work on my other projects a break and do something else.

I knocked this up for fun and learned some important lessons about using custom subclasses of NSView and internationalization at the same time.

It took me about a week to go from idea to finished version 1.0.0, including some tricksy debugging and designing all the graphics for the game. I'm sure I couldn't have done this as quickly using anything other than Apple's Cocoa IDE.

What's new in this version:

  • More bugs in the high-score system (GameController.m) stomped and code tidied up
  • You can now clear the high score tables
  • You can now click and drag (shove) a jewel to move
  • Speed of jewel movement has been increased (less waiting, less frustrating!)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.0 or higher

JewelToy ReviewAlmost perfect... - Version: 1.3.1, 11/30/2006 06:51PM PST

...because it won't record my high scores. I'm running 10.4.8 on a G4 Mac, FYI. Otherwise, an excellent game.

JewelToy CommentaryGreat version of "Bejeweled" - Version: 1.3.1, 2/16/2006 07:08PM PST

Never had problems with this program, great (and to my knowledge the only) free version of "Bejeweled" gameplay.

I hope this gets updated to be Universal.

There are two versions on the disk image.

Version 1.3.1 (JewelToy) for most machines and Version 1.2.1 (JewelToy Quartz) for older machines that can't handle OpenGL so well. Version 1.2.1 lacks many of the features of 1.3.0 and onwards.
