Product Description:

Freeware utility to run the system's daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts.

These scripts are normally run between 3am and 5am, and will not be run if you shut off your Mac at night. This can allow log files to grow very large, and prevent system databases from getting backed up.

With MacJanitor, you can run these scripts 'by hand' periodically without having to use the Terminal to keep your Mac OS X machine in top racing form.

Excellent for laptop users and others who shut off or put their Macs to sleep at night.

What's new in this version:

  • Switched to using the 'periodic' command instead of running the maintenance scripts directly.
  • 'Properly updates the periodic log files (daily.out, etc...).
  • Recommended for 10.3 or higher (including Tiger).

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
  • Tiger compatible

MacJanitor CommentaryDoesn't work with Leopard - Version: 1.3, 12/8/2008 12:12PM PST

I used MacJanitor all the time until I upgraded to Leopard. It appears to run, but produces error messages such as "no such file or directory".

There is not a macJanitor for Intel .... yet. But why not try the widget that does exactly the same thing. I've been using it and it does work. Check out www.giantmike.com and on the sidebar look for Maintidget. It's a great widget and well worth the price (free) and doesn't take a lode of space, always accessible and ready to go with Admin password. You can clean up daily, weekly, monthly or all three. I use it regularly.

MacJanitor ReviewA simple yet effective program - Version: 1.3, 11/29/2006 11:28AM PST

What more can I say? MacJanitor is the best at running the maitnce scrips, which usually will only run at night when your computer is idel. Run this program monthly and you will see the huge preformance boost.

Warning for intel iMac users: Because this program is still for PowerPC chips, there is sometimes a few glitches. For example, the program is supposed to close when the cleaning is done, but often it won't. You can still tell when it is finished however: the word DONE will appear in the progress text box. Once done is shown, you can safley shut down.
