Product Description:
IRC - Internet Relay Chat. With Snak you can chat with people from all over the world in IRC meeting rooms on the Internet. Millions of people use IRC and there are thousands of meeting rooms with varied subjects like computers, soccer or sports. You can also use IRC to have private conversations with family or friends, and since IRC is worldwide you can use it to practice your language skills.
What's new in this version:
- Universal Binary
- Checkbox in preferences to turn off spell checking. As before this can also be done in the contextual menu in the inputfield.
- You can now hold down the option key when clicking a nick in the userlist to add it to the inputfield without the leading "/msg"
- Style popup button for the topic field in the Channel Management dialog.
- The input field will now ignore style information in pasted text by default. To paste styled text hold down the option key when choosing Paste from the menu.
- Query panels renamed to Dialog panels.
- The contextual menu in the userlist was not opened in the right location.
- Crash when hovering the mouse over a DCC send item in the DCC group in the profile list.
- The edit field in the quit dialog did not respond correctly to some items in the contextual menu.
- Numerical IPv6 server addresses did not get stored correctly in the server list.
- Nothing happened if you doubleclicked a nick in a Dialog panel.
- Spellcheck ignore and learn didn't work until second launch.
- Potential crashes during channel listing, especially on Undernet.

Any one use this to share a folder on an irc client? And if so, how? Can't find any place to choose a folder and am not getting a response to my emails to support.

I've been using Snak for years, and I'm glad to see it's still getting better and better! I used to have a license and I was thinking to get a new one, so I went to the website and found out about the pledge to kiva.org. What to say... Great! I felt even more motivated to send the money, since it would be used to help those people. I totally appreciate their support to Kiva and I wish more developers would do such things!
The only thing I really would like to see is the possibility to have a DCC transfer window open "in the background", like a private message (basically, without making it the active window). Apart from this, I'm completely satisfied with the program.
By the way, the support is also very good. I remember sending info on a bug to the developer: he replied and said he'd work on it, and in the following Snak version I found the bugs had been fixed.
I did try other IRC clients, but Snak is still the best by far!

I'm so completely thrilled to see that the authors of Snak have pledged to give all PayPal payments to kiva.org (http://kiva.org) Kiva is one of my favorite charities because they help by giving poor people access to small loans so they can help themselves. It's totally different than writing a check to a random charity to do with as they please. It's called micro-credit afaik
So, when you pay for or renew a Snak license, the money will be sent to kiva and loaned out to someone in the third world. Each lender loans out only a small amount like $25 which goes towards the full amount that the loaner has requested. The Snak authors are even publishing their page at kiva so you can check that they actually do what they have promised. Right now they've already loaned out 18 separate chunks of money. Oh, and since this is a review I better end by saying that 5.3.3 works great. I haven't updated to Leopard yet so I haven't seen the bugs that this version fixes. Snak is stable and reliable.
