(Note: You must reset the Bart Cache if this has happened to you - see the second question in the AOL for Mac OS X plus Beta FAQ's )
  • Double clicking Help in any of the My Expressions selection windows for Buddy Icon, IM Wallpaper, Smiley Theme or Buddy & IM sounds will crash the AOL for Mac OS X sotware.
  • Scroll bars, arrow keys and highlighting text wth the mouse does not work when viewing Mail You've Sent in the PFC.
(You can use the Page up and Page Down keys to scroll, and Select All to highlight text.)

America Online (AOL) Troubleshooting ReportWhy I Still Use AOL Mac SW - Version: 1.5b5, 10/29/2008 08:36PM PST

YaelleG
I had horrendous experiences for the first several months after I started using AOL for Mac. It would always freeze, shut down & do all kinds of sneaky things while the other 99% of my MacBook operated perfectly. Luckily they eventually came out with AOL Desktop (I think that was the 1st update after just regular old AOL for Mac which hadnt been updated since 1776.)

I havent had the crashing & freezing problems with this software but needless to say, it aint the greatest thing in the world. I want to get rid of it so badly, but I've got a brain injury & my memory would probably not allow me to learn an entirely new thing. I need the PFC & whatever else is saved on here - I know I couldn't start all the way over from scratch.

If anyone knows of another email program that allows you to do the following, I might consider switching but until then I'll stick with this horrible excuse for a piece of software:

1. save emails - not only in the immediate box but in the old/sent mails of the PFC
2. an IM program right in there with the email & the web browser - not that I dont use safari every time I need to get on the www.
3. My PFC is kind of invaluable.
4. My email address name - I know there are ways to keep an email address or something, but...
Maybe there's some kind of detox from AOL rehab program I can get in.
If anyone else could do all that, I'm sure they could do it better & without all the bad stuff which I won't get into. And it'd be great if I could find an American company that doesn't outsource to switch to! Don't get me started on that.
- Thanks,
Yaelle G.
