TuneConnect CommentaryA couple of additional comments - Version: 2, 1/2/2009 08:55AM PST

Actually putting radio URLs into playlists in the host is not a great workaround because the remote does not get track information, which is huge to me. When listening to radio I very often want to know what it is I'm hearing.

A very useful feature would be the ability to delete tracks remotely from the host. Very frequently a song comes up in shuffle play and I say to myself "This is crap, I need to delete it". Being able to do so from the remote would be great.

I'm reviewing v2.1. Overall this is the nicest network remote for iTunes I've tried. Visually very elegant and similar to iTunes. Installation is painless and it just works.

Lack of a Track column is a major issue. If you want to listen to an album in correct track sequence you have to make sure the host library is sorted in track order, which is not usually the case with my library.

The program includes a rudimentary search field, but it would be much, much better if it had a "Browser" like iTunes', allowing selection of multiple artists/songs/albums/genres etc.

Lack of direct internet radio control is a drawback, but you can put radio stations into playlists and use them that way.

The table column for library track index number is useless and I'd like to be able to turn it off.

Album artwork is only displayed in "normal" view. It'd be nice (and more like iTunes) if it were also displayed in "music selection" view.

The currently-playing song needs to be indicated in the media list (like iTunes' little speaker icon).

Folders of playlists are flattened, which is a bit of a nuisance. I suppose it could be due to my old version of iTunes (7) on the host (which is running Tiger in my case).

There doesn't seem to be any way to force an update from the server other than turning the server off and then back on again. I create a new playlist on the host but it's doesn't appear on the remote until I restart the server.

The server prefpane should display its version number.
