Duplicate Printers - Version: 1.0.1, 8/15/2005 12:18AM PST

Although I'm a great advocate of Brother laser printers and laser MFCs (although the inkjets don't cut it on print quality for images, IMHO), I do have one problem with my MFC-9880 that really bugs me. There are always two copies of the printer created in the printer list, no matter what I do. This happens automatically and I've tried all manner of things to stop it happening, but I can't get to the bottom of it.
It does work...

I just installed this on a new eMac and to begin with had the same problem as everyone else - the Fax-Printer wasn't recognised and didn't appear in Printer Setup. However, then I re-read the installation instructions and noticed that you have to do things in the right order.
You MUST switch off and disconnect the printer first, then restart the Mac (just to be sure) then reconnect the printer and THEN switch the printer on. Now if you run the Printer Setup Utility you will find the Mac has found your Brother printer and all is well. Note, you only have to do this the first time, from now on the printer is always found.
It's worth the effort because this driver package is waaa-haay-hay faster than the standard Brother drivers - especially for any print-job with a lot of images. The prints fall out of the printer literally seconds after you send them, whereas the previous driver would churn endlessly before printing.
Try it again...
(BTW, I'm using this with a Brother MFC-8440)

I had no problem in the past with my HL-5070N, then I upgrade... now I cannot add the printer, and I had to go back at the first driver.
I try also to upgrade the firmware of the printer... no difference

Instead of adding the printer through the Printer setup utility add it using the print menu from any program. Here you can choose Rendezvous printers and choose the Brother printer. Then it will be added and will work. I don't know why it does not work if you add the printer the way you should, but at least this way it works.

Has Apple given up on Brother? After a firmware update, the AEBS doesn't recognize our 1430 anymore.
It works fine locally and our Epson is immediately recognized...
Any ideas?

The previous commenter said everything is working fine. Not for me. I can't print to my HL 1440 over Airport Express, though it works fine if I plug the printer directly to my computer.
Very frustrating.

Works superb with my HL-1440 over Airport Express. This is great! No problems at all, worked right after adding through Rendezvous.
Seems to work fine... - Version: 1.0, 8/29/2004 05:42AM PST

...and yes it works with HL-1440. Can't see any new features but the Sleep thing under Printer settings. Will get back to tell if it works with Airport Express.
Works perfectly

Great set of drivers. Gives more options and control over the HL-1440 than before, like Sleep time and such.
