Product Description:

This service calculates the result of a selected formula within all Cocoa-applications (e.g. Textedit, Mail, Stickies, Notes, ProjectBuilder, Fire, OmniWeb or TeXShop) and appends the result to the formula or replaces the formula with the result. In addition there's the possibility to display the result in a panel without modifying the text. So there's no more need to start Calculator or stuff like that if you only want to calculate some values immediately within text view or dialog fields.

Operators:
  • floating point values: x.y or x,y - add, substract, multiply, divide, modulo, exponential: +-*/%^
  • assign: = (Assigned variables are persistent and still available the next time you're going to use CalcService)
  • sign and parenthesis: +-()

Functions:
  • exp, exp10, exp2, ln, log, log10, log2
  • sin/asin, cos/acos, tan/atan
  • cosh/acosh, sinh/asinh, tanh/atanh
  • sqrt, abs, sign
  • ceil, floor, round
  • sqrt, abs, sign, fact (factorial for statistics, combinations and variations etc.)

Constants:
  • Mathematics: pi, e
  • Physics: c, g, e0, u0, qe, me, mp, mn

What's new in this version:

  • ceil(), floor(), round(), acosh(), asinh(), atanh(), cosh(), sinh() and tanh() functions added
  • Shortcut of "Calculate & Copy" removed (Cmd-< and Cmd-> are used to switch the active window on german and probably other systems)

CalcService Reviewi was so certain,... - Version: 3.2, 11/24/2005 10:32AM PST

ende
...i reviewed this before. it's a MUST. it deserves nothing but 5 stars. most often, when a wanna do a quick calculation, i just type it to

- the terminal
- safaris url-bar
- an email
- any cocoa textfield
- a sticky
- ...

and hit [command]-[=] instead of opening the apple calculator.

if it would lookup and convert currencies, i wouldn't use the calculator at all. otoh, the syntax would be so complicated... would it?

CalcService ReviewYou gotta have this... - Version: 3.1, 1/22/2005 10:48AM PST

Cloetus_1

I'm so lazy, I even hate to copy and paste from the calculator. Enter CalcService.

I need to position some element in CSS, so I can enter the width of the two elements preceding it, (a + b) select the values, and select Calculate & Replace.

Boom.

Sweet!
