Product Description:

AIM for Mac continues our commitment to the growing Mac market by delivering a new AIM experience that's built from the ground up for the Mac platform. AIM for Mac is one of the most requested applications from our users, and the "buzz" has been increasing with the successful launch of AIM for iPhone.

What's new in this version:

  • AIM conversation logging: The logging is disabled by default and can be enabled in the AIM > Preferences > IM tab > IM Logging section.
  • Added new feature for Group Row Themes: A new color wheel button was added to the top of the Buddy List window to access this feature. There are 12 built in themes for the user to choose.
  • AIM-to-SMS: Add and Edit Buddy window now supports adding Mobile number.
  • AIM Edit menu: Added Quick Away Message and Quick Status Message menu items.
  • Folder Preferences: Added the full folder path to the tooltip of the IM Preferences Download Folder and Logging Folder pop-up buttons.
  • Groups: In response to user feedback, added a Group row context menu item to "Collapse All Groups".
  • Feedback/Connection: To improve feedback for AIM connection issues, a new link has been added to the bottom of the Sign In window to allow users to report issues to the AOL Mac Team.
  • Buddy List: If group name is very long tooltip should appear for the group along with the count.

Please...what's the point? The only thing this things good for is allowing other mac users a way to use FAR superior iChat... without having to pay for a mobile me account.

I mean c'mon... "you can send your pictures to all your buddies?" Ya know, there's this cool thing out there,.. it's called "email."

I find it amusing that AIM was an editor pick (fancy blue text) for years, but now it's not even worthy of an editor mention anymore. the fact that not even macupdate or versiontracker support it anymore as BOTH have removed it from editors picks says something in that of itself. AOL should really take a hint and either fix it by completing the feature set to actually be useful or just give it up again like they did before.
