Even though versiontracker said that version 2.6.5 is available, the download is still version 2.6.4.

Just noticed that the Finder info box still says version 2.5.8. The "About FileXaminer ..." dialog does say 2.5.9.

FileXaminer Troubleshooting ReportHow do I deinstall FileXaminer? - Version: 2.5.5, 5/25/2006 10:00AM PST

I came across FileXaminer and tried it. Now my Alt-Cmd-i pops up the FileXaminer window, but it doesn't stay in front of any other finder windows. For me that means it is an unusable program. So I delete it. Now Alt-Cmd-i doesn't work at all. That is REALLY bad......

I have found Filexaminer to be very reliable and very useful in doing several things that require much more technica expertise. Thanks to Gideon Softworks for making it available. Easily worth the price.

FileXaminer Commentary1.7 would have been a better option - Version: 2.0, 3/25/2004 09:52AM PST

Well, I did not get a reply to my email, but I did find my older version and I'll stick to that one. The fact that there was no initial upgrade price, that I got no response from the author, and that almost half of what's new in this version are bug fixes leaves me with no desire to upgrade. It's a shame since the author had been very responsive in the past. On a positive note, he did post some information here.
I think this should have been a free upgrade to registered users. I don't see enough change or improvement for a version number change and a paid upgrade. In contrast, when I downloaded Graphic Converter 5 I immediately looked for the upgrade option, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was still -once again- a free upgrade.

FileXaminer CommentaryUpgrade? - Version: 2.0, 3/23/2004 10:24AM PST

I noticed too there was no upgrade price. I emailed the author since I wanted to know where to get 1.6 again, and asked about this upgrade price but I have not heard back from him. I'll look in one of my backups. I have 3 of their titles, and was not thrilled about finding no upgrade price for this one.

FileXaminer CommentaryNo price break... - Version: 2.0, 3/23/2004 01:17AM PST

for original registered owners (like myself). Sorta sad and sorta unusual, but it is the developer's prerogative to start charging everyone a flat fee for this new version, regardless of the end-user's history of prior financial support. However, if he goes up to v.3 without some really whiz-bang features, I probably will not bother to pay for another version without being offered a discount. Show some good will and receive some in return.

Why not offer an upgrade price for us that paid version 1.x? ;)

loose with no 10.2 support for this guy's SFTP client ("still in development") I don't think I'll be giving him any more money for a while. His work is good an it's a shame he won't respond to paid customer emails.
