With factory standard, and limewire recommended firewall changes... deleted and redownloaded x3... still refuses to connect. Internet is always on, I have tried various setting, different types of searches, but they yield no results. Going crazy. Any ideas? on a OS 10.4.10.... bumming guys.

Following discussions on the LimeWire forum the "LimeWire starts eating my CPU" problem mentioned here in connection with release 4.14.1 was triggered when a LimeWire installation was running behind a firewall. This appears now to have been fixed (in release 4.14.7, not posted here). Anyone seeing the problem, wihose symptoms are that LimeWire suddenly begins to use large amounts of CPU and memory when running behind a firewall, should upgrade to 4.14.8 or later. Well done to the LimeWire developers for fixing this!
