Product Description:

Are you ready for high-definition (HDV 720p and 1080i) 16:9 widescreen video? So is iMovie. Or, more accurately, iMovie HD. Though still as easy to use as ever, iMovie HD lets you import and edit video from the newest camcorders — not just HDV cameras but the tiny and affordable flash media video cams, as well — and in the latest formats, including HDV, MPEG-4 and 16:9 widescreen SDV. Dramatically increased performance lets iMovie HD move quickly through even the most complex projects, and new and improved tools let you edit quickly and easily. Take, for example, the Timeline. Now you can use it for all your editing, including rearranging clips. You’ll also like the new Skywalker Sound audio effects and even more effects and transitions. And you’re really going to enjoy creating movies automatically with the new Magic iMovie feature.

What's new in this version:

addresses issues related to video and audio synchronization for DV projects and other issues. These include:
  • Audio in PAL widescreen
  • Sharing (exporting) HDV to videocamera tape
  • Synchronizing with HDV 720p content
  • Importing video from a DV videocamera when using analog passthrough or recording live video
  • Compatibility with some analog-to-digital converter boxes
  • Capturing video with Hi-8 (Digital 8) devices
  • Placing titles over DV content
  • Playing iPhoto slideshows that include protected content
  • Opening iMovie 4 projects that use speed-adjusted clips.

Apple iMovie HD Troubleshooting ReportBug or no bug? - Version: 8.0.5, 10/14/2009 07:52PM PST

leberp
Upgraded to IMovie 8.0.5. When I start IMovie I get the following notice: "The QuickTime component necessary to view, edit, import, and export high-definition movies is not installed. It is included with the iMovie installer; please re-install."

Why. The IMovie was installed when I first loaded the operating system; I don't have a separate installer. Perhaps its on the application install disk, but I don't to restore the computer to its original state --its an early 2009 install disk set.

My computer is a Quad Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz, with 6MB main memory

iMovie has gone downhill since v6. At least put both versions on-line so people can use one that actually is useful
