Product Description:

VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, and OGG, as well as for DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It also can be used as a server for unicast or multicast streams in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

Version 1.0 introduces more responsive controls, frame-by-frame playback, on-the-fly recording for all media, and support for a wider range of codecs, decoders, encoders, and demuxers.

There's a 1.0.4rc 64-bit (which I'm now using) and a whole listing of 64-bit versions... which you'll also need if you intend on using 64-bit Handbrake.

other than the Itunes(b/c I own an ipod) this is the only player I use, I love it. A big thank you to the devs who made it.

VLC is a good player for the computer, but if you want PERFECT playback of ALL your HD video over HDMI with AC3 and DTS look no further than Western Digital's "WD TV Live" hardware.
