Mozilla Firefox CommentaryBorked borked borked... - Version: 3.5.5, 11/7/2009 12:12PM PST

I <3 Firefox and generally recommend it to everyone, but this version is a real dog. Broke my TweetGrid, makes other sites not load completely or look really strange. Going back at least to the original 3.5 :-P

Mozilla Firefox CommentaryFirefox not prompting the update for 3.5.5 and not under check for updates - Version: 3.5.5, 11/7/2009 10:19AM PST

Richard Berman
I updated to Firefox 3.5.3 when it was released on Speptmeber 9, 2009. Since the release of 3.5.4 I have gone to "check for updates under FireFox's help menu. Everytime it .t says "No updates found. There are no updates available. FireFox will check periodically for upodates"

Under release notes, it profiles version 3.5.3, but offers the possibility to update to 3.5.5.

What is the story?

Mozilla Firefox ReviewStill can not display videos created in Quicktime X's Save for Web feature - Version: 3.5.5, 11/6/2009 08:24AM PST

Unfortunately this version of Firefox still can not display videos created by Apples Quicktime 10 'save for web' feature. This is Apple's recommended way for creating videos to post on web sites. Can someone at Firefox please look into this or work with Apple on resolving this? As someone who works with video as well as Apple Quicktime frequently this is now a major hassle and leading to major incompatibility issues.

Mozilla Firefox CommentaryVer. 3.5.3 disables NoFlash - Version: 3.5.3, 10/10/2009 11:22AM PST

Why are plugins no longer supported? NoFlash isn't the only one, but it's the one I really care about--Firefox no longer automatically notifies you or allows you to update them from the Tools>Add-Ons window. So I manually downloaded the current versions and installed them. Firefox merely adds a message saying "this add-on will be updated when Firefox is restarted". But it doesn't, no matter how many times I've tried. The plugin simply isn't available anymore in Firefox. Nor are ANY of the ones I use--you click on the preferences button for each of them, and nothing happens. NONE of my plugins work anymore--their icons have just disappeared. Most unhappy about that. If Mozilla believes Firefox is so good now that plugins are no longer needed (unlikely), they offered zero information regarding such before prompting you to download their update.

Mozilla Firefox CommentaryPerakun (Chinese translation) plugin no longer supported - Version: 3.5.3, 9/27/2009 06:58PM PST

I updated as I always have, as Firefox makes improvements. I usually use Safari, but some webpages won't work with Safari (often Google services). I have Firefox mainly for Rikaichan (Japanese) and Perakun (Chinese) plugins. After finding out that the Perakun is not supported in the latest update, I trashed it and reinstalled the previous version which I will use until a compatible plugin is developed.

Mozilla Firefox ReviewStill better than Safari 4... - Version: 3.5.3, 9/12/2009 11:49AM PST

Since Apple's last security update, Safari has been wonking out (not connecting to sites I had no problem with prior to the update and mega SLOWER than Firefox). Until Apple fixes this rather than strictly thinking of pushing iPods and iPhones I then may go back to using Safari again.

Mozilla Firefox CommentaryBrowser of choice... - Version: 3.5.3, 9/9/2009 07:03PM PST

Firefox has been my browser of choice for years now for many reasons but, not really due to Firefox itself [am I posting this] (**I'll give credit here to Snow Leopard on my Quad-Core Xeon 2.66GHz because the following was noticed only after updating my 10.5.8 OS to 10.6**) but this thing FLIES! I click my YouTube shortcut and it literally POPS up like the front page had been stored on my hard drive... all Flash (Note the 10.6 installer installs an older version of Flash so that's been updated) and Java content POPS UP on the screen faster than when I got the MacPro a couple of weeks ago.

Recommend Firefox? Heck yeah! Recommend Snow Leopard? HECK YEAH!

Mozilla Firefox ReviewSlower than Safari - Version: 3.5.2, 8/24/2009 09:22AM PST

I run both Safari 4.0.3 and Firefox 3.5.2. Firefox usually takes longer to load a page, and I frequently get "Server not found", whereas Safari will find the page.

Firefox seems to especially choke when I try to open multiple bookmark pages in multiple tabs - when doing this it takes forever to bring up the pages if it will bring them up at all. Again, Safari will usually handle this action.

I'm using a new iMac 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 3 Mbaud DSL internet connection.
