Product Description:

InterMapper points out network problems -- often before users and customers suffer downtime or poor performance. SNMP and ping probes discover and query elements across your distributed network - whether it spans several rooms, a building, an office park, or distributed locations. Synthetic transactions test critical applications and alert you to email, web, or directory server problems. It's easy to set up - you'll be working in a couple hours.

What's new in this version:

  • [LATERAL] Enhanced the InterMapper Engine Status probe for better diagnostics in case of problems with the InterMapper server.
  • [BUG FIX] The Windows installer now correctly preserves the started/stopped states of the IM & IMDC services.
  • [BUG FIX] The IMDC service now correctly defaults to manual start-up after a fresh install on Windows. [FEATURE] Implemented IP-address filtering for the SNMP OID Error detailed log option. (81503)
  • [LATERAL] Documented the existence of the notifierrules table export. (81549)
  • [LATERAL] Provided flag, UI to allow setting detailed logging for fonts.
  • [BUG FIX] Fixed a bug in the Mac OS X installer that caused it to replace an existing 'intermapper' user/group, rather than leaving them un-modified.
  • [BUG FIX] Restored pre-5.2 permissions behavior for InterMapper Control Center on Windows, so it at least partially works under restricted accounts again.
  • [BUG FIX] Fix glacial startup on Windows 7 due to the shortcut resolution capability reintroduced in 5.2.1b1. (81693)
  • [BUG FIX] Disabled TLS extensions that were causing the HTTPS probe to mark a device as DOWN when probing servers which failed to implement TLS according to the spec. (81072, 81152, 81171, possibly 80988)
  • [BUG FIX] Fixed potential small memory leak in Windows shortcut resolution code. (81065) [BUG FIX] It is once again possible to use Windows shortcuts for the Chart Data folder and other InterMapper Settings folders. (75828)
  • [BUG FIX] The checkbox for displaying unnumbered interfaces in a probe group's interfaces window now works. (75950)
  • [BUG FIX] Fixed bug where displaying unnumbered interfaces for a probe group could result in network ovals hidden behind other ovals, making it appear as though they interfaces hadn't shown. (75950)
  • [BUG FIX] Response time can now be charted for command-line probes. (80925)
  • [BUG FIX] Removed some not-really-necessary logging code that was causing crashes because it was not thread-safe (81043, 81052)
  • [BUG FIX] Prevent user from acquiring edit lock if map file is unwritable in the file system, to prevent changes from being silently lost. (81027)
  • [BUG FIX] Reverted to the slower, but correct font handling in the web server. (81023, 81125, 81155, 81156, 81169)
  • [BUG FIX] Correct handling of a situation on Mac OS X where the "Chart Data" symbolic link points to a non-existent item. (81049)

if you want a grip on your net without the hassle - just try - it's superb indeed like other posters mentioned... even an old machine will do - but is nice on faster iron too :-) strong recomendation on my part ... and if you compare the price to other tools and the ease of use - go and get it, put it on your powerbook - go into any net - plugin in and see - five stars and ps: the support is second to none - thank You guys for making my life as a network admin a lot easier (and since so many years reliable).

Still great and all the network Unix/Windows guys depend on it for notification of problems. Love how easy it is to configure on the Mac! Emails cell phones to key people for their servers, emails others for status updates, web sites produced are visited by many and even dials out to cell phones when the Internet goes down (or our connection to it)! All handled easily by an old iMac.
