Product Description:

LimeWire lets users share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, and text documents. Other features include dynamic querying, push-proxy support for connecting through firewalls, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.

What's new in this version:

  • Inadvertent file sharing updates to ensure users understand what is shared.
  • Uploads and downloads appear in the transfer tray.
  • Added a nubbin to the transfer tray (a nubbin is the little thing you select to drag).
  • Check downloads to see whether it is dangerous before previewing.
  • Hide some file types by default associated with spam.
  • Search suggestions based on files from Friends are stored in database now, which reduces the memory footprint for large libraries of your friends.
  • Improvements in search suggestions from Friends based on what files they share with you.
  • Improvements in the way search results are sorted by relevance.
  • Displaying the LimeWire Store button only in locations where you can use the LimeWire Store.
  • File information/properties dialog box is redesigned.
  • Select different language in the View drop down menu.
  • Update to the Options.
  • Add the LimeWire Home Screen and the LimeWire Store icon when using Snow Leopard and running in 32 bit mode.
  • Allow you to add folders to the Library or lists.
  • Title Options dialog box to 'Preferences'.
  • Add an option in the Preferences to associate LimeWire as the default application for all torrent files.
  • Add an OS X style dialog so you can select multiple files and folders at once.
  • Fix a problem which prevented you from deleting multiple files from your Library or Shared lists.
  • Fix 'why' hyperlink in Advanced Tools.
  • Allow LimeWire to locate a file on disk with a comma in the file name.
  • Check the file name length in the file rename.
  • Add option to remove all property files during uninstallation.
  • Fix uninstaller bug when still running LimeWire.
  • Prevent ability to start a torrent download if you unselected all files in the Torrent Prioritization dialog.
  • Prevent 'Private Shared' list from reappearing after a restart if you previously deleted the list.
  • Prevent pop up menus from intermittently appearing as all gray.

I don't even know what to say i've been using limewire for at least 3 years and i was until recently using version 4.18.2 until it stopped connecting to the network.
Finally today i decided to get the current version and omg is it bad it's like they got a team together to find and hunt down the worst aspects of all downloading software.
Firstly they have the load time that was always not to good but on top of that they have taken out about half the features ad hidden the rest. I'm sorry but if i want to change what files I'm sharing why would i go to the completely unlabelled icon on the top bar instead of preferences where it always has been and is in just about every sharing application that i can think of. Also to add insult to injury they still technically still have it in preferences not as an option or a link to the right place but as a diagram to show you where it is now.
This is of course but one example there are dozens and i wont bore you.

LimeWire ReviewStill damned confusing - Version: 5.2.13, 8/19/2009 07:38AM PST

Somehow, the whole Limewire experience is flawed. The user interface is all ass-backwards. I'm not a software engineer so I cannot put into words why I don't like it and how it should be improved, but I don't and it should. The developers should start over.

The VersionTracker page should also contain a link to the latest PPC version.

Limewire should also not prevent me from changing the name. I prefer all my apps to contain the version number in their names. Limewire does not permit me to change its name to "Limewire 5.2.13"

And how strange. When I go to the developer's site to download a copy of the last PPC-compatible verson, 4.18.8 according to them, the installer that arrives on my machine, although it indeed is version 4.18.8, is titled "Limewire 5"

It also gets uppity when I try to move it to where I want it to live

I also object that the only English version available is American English. There are many other English-speakers who do not like American English. Indeed, about a quarter of the world speaks non-American English! (OK small point, I know.)

No offline help. Annoying.

But most of all, I am extremely annoyed at being constantly nagged to upgrade to the paid version.

This app is gone!
